Hello, Bob, and welcome to ElevenForum.

Windows 11 supports Bluetooth, yes. But it's not Bluetooth per se.

To effectively help you, we will need your computer information and which printer you're using. Could you please complete the information under MyComputer? Even if what I say below works for you, if you should have a further need of support, it will be easier for someone to help you. Besides, we like to know what toys everyone else has. We're nosy that way. :-)

Under Settings click on Bluetooth & Devices. Click on Printers and Scanners, then check to see if your printer is listed. When you see your printer, click on it. Now you can choose what to check on next.

Hopefully this will be helpful.

I go to Bluetooth and Devices, Printers & Scanners. Choose the printer, and then Printer properties. Maintenance tab, then the View Printer Status button at the bottom right.

Inks levels are shown for my inkjet printer.

I know of nothing similar that's built into Windows for a laser printer's toner cartridge or drum.

My Brother Laser printer tells me when my toner is getting low. So does the Epson inkjet when my ink is getting low.

I actually hadn't thought of checking on the ink and toner status since I always get plenty of lead time for new ink or toner.

Yes. So do mine. I think there are utilities for the lasers that can display toner and drum usage, but I never invoke them. I'm not sure what "BobT" refers to as a taskbar item. Was there such a Windows utility, or was it some third-party app?

There may be a desire to check the levels on inkjet photo printers, as they use up ink quickly (if you don't have one of the printers with ink tanks rather than cartridges). As my inkjet is a few feet away from my PC, I can just check its display. It also complains when a cartridge is low.

I have an HP printer and the ink levels are done through its software. I can't find anything native to Windows to do that.

This is not determined by the OS but by the printer driver.

You could try the printer maker's support site and/or user forum for help.

Hi.
I have an EPSONXP -2100 Series printer and this would normally be installed using a disc with all the relevant icons on the desktop or taskbar.
My new HP Laptop does not have the facility for inserting a disc as the printer is added automatically with Bluetooth.
No Visible printer levels are available with Bluetooth for this printer, but when printing I get a warning of low level ink. The printer will flash to indicate the ink problem and by opening the printer and pushing the button next to the flashing light for 3/4 seconds the printer colour cartridge carrier will stop at a pointer indicating which colour requires replacing. change the colour cartridge as normal. ( hope this makes sense )

Thank you, Bob.

FYI, there are external CD/DVD drives you can plug into a USB port on your laptop.

I've used an LG, HP, LiteOn and a Dell, latest is an H-L [Hitachi-LG] Slim Portable DVD Writer GP96YW70 and comes with both USB A and USB C cables plus the newer USB-C cable as used with newer SmartPhones. It's marked for Android but will also work with PC and Mac and should with Linux. Only issue with the LiteOn was a trim on the case that came off but still works. I was pretty much forced into the H-L as more clients and then finally me got the SmartPhone, I needed to as a flip phone doesn't do me well for texting.
