Problem with hardware

I’m having a problem with my keyboard and mouse that are connected via USB. Both of them are backlit. My PC doesn’t have enough ports on the back, so when I plug the keyboard and mouse into a USB hub, they don’t work. Same thing happens if I connect a printer to the hub – it won’t work either. But when I plug them directly into separate ports, then I don’t have a free port left for my webcam. What should I do so that the keyboard and mouse work, and I still have enough ports for all my external devices?

It's a long time since I saw this problem for myself.
The solution was to use externally powered USB hubs rather than ones that took their power from the USB connection.

Best of luck,
Denis

Hard to guess.

I figured that you might need a powered USB hub to supply enough current to a backlit keyboard and mouse.

But a printer connected using shouldn't require significant power. (I presume that you mean an inkjet or laser printer that is powered by 120VAC.)

What kind of USB port are you connecting the hub to? It should be a USB 3.0 port, which can supply more power than a USB 2 port.
