I subscribe to MS Office 365 and want/need to continue using Publisher after it is discontinued. But prefer to use the other Office Apps via subscription that is regularly updated. If I purchase Office 2021 Pro Plus ( Lifetime License/ Global) from a reputable seller can I choose to install only Publisher? And at what stage should I do this? Before Publisher is no longer provided by MS or wait until it is removed? Is there a chance that MS will prolong the end time like they have done a few times for Windows 10?

Thank you! I had seen that post but wasn't sure about installing the Office 2021 Publisher alone on my PC and if that is possible while I still have 365 version working. I don't want all the Office apps doubling up on my PC. And don't want to buy the Office 2021 and find I cannot only install Publisher.

I have MSOffice Pro Plus 2021 & there is no obvious means of installing only desired applications nor of uninstalling undesired ones.
Current versions of MSOffice are, as far as installation & un-installation is concerned, a single application.

A few years ago, there were discussions on the subject of keeping only some MSOffice applications in
MSOffice and 365 - TenForums
and I recall at least one claim that what you want to do is possible but, when asked how, that poster promised to post back with instructions then disappeared forever.
I never noticed any solution being proposed.
[There being no solution, I didn't keep any links to the discussions I had seen.]

I misunderstood the guidance in this MS article. I no longer believe it offers any solution unless you buy a standalone Publisher.
This guide says that you can install 2021 then install a current 365 version [that omits Publisher] and you will find that Publisher 2021 gets left behind, still installed.
Install and use different versions of Office on the same PC - MSSupport

I don't know anybody who has put that to the test.

According to that thread linked to by XxXxX, you'd have to buy a stand alone Publisher 2021 LTSC to be certain of success.
