QuickBooks vs. My hardware vs. My understanding or lack of?

A year ago I purchased what I thought to be a quick laptop. A Lenovo Win11 Ideapad Intel Evo i7 - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz (I had waited until the 12 Gen chipset was generally shipping before purchasing) - 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable). Windows 11 Home version 23H2 - Build 22631.3447.

And this is where the wheels of my thinking may have gone sideways. I recognized that the clock speed was less than spectacular, but, it was my understanding that intel/Lenovo more than compensated for the slower speed vis a vie the advanced chipset, cores and that the chipset's slower speed was an energy saving mechanism.

Now forward to today and making a too long story short - I'm finding that QuickBooks is now saying in conjunction with their 2022-23 update, the minimum clock speed is 2.4 GHz. And to emphasize, the laptop will no longer load QB.

Would someone please explain if I was totally off base or if QB is strictly basing their minimum hardware on clock speed?

Many programs will specify the minimum hardware their program will run smoothly on. It's been 4 years since I last was treasurer for our church and I used QB. I had installed Version 2019 on a Win10 2.3GHz computer with 8GB RAM and was okay.

2 clarifications-

QB's 2022 was running fine the last time used on the laptop the fall of 2023. Connie needed it for a meeting today and I set about updating to her current data file (from her desktop). That's when the laptop continually encountered a stop error. And I was told by a QB manager (having escalated the call) that QB updated the software the end of 2023 and now the stop due to chip speed.

All that said, I know we'll need a new laptop for QB. But I need to understand the plus/minus, approximate relevant performance of an advanced (at the time) chipset versus clock speed. Do need to stop paying so much attention to the Gen chipset and focus on clock speed? And forget about energy savings and just get the fastest clock speed realistically available?

Or, and this is important, is QB doing a very simple, blunt determination by using clock speed and disregarding the other factors invoked in performance?

It's hard to guess what QB is trying to do, I can understand graphics designers and movie makers needing more speed. Maybe the features of tracking investments and other such things need faster machines for that type online access. I always wanted to try SAGE, the successor to Peachtree Accounting but never got around to it. Quicken has also been changing, now with a Home and Business version.

I'm giving you the speed as listed under System. Speed being locked is above my level. But if your supposition is correct, then is there a way to unlock the speed block? And why on earth would the speed be locked other than for Lenovo/Intel to get some sort of energy rating?

And assume I overclock the CPU, would that speed then be changed in System? If the overclocked speed does not then I'm fairly certain QB would still stop the program since the program is likely looking at the System value. No?

It should just work without user intervention.

Find your laptop on the Lenovo website and take a look 'Tech Specs'.

I've done a bit of reading and thanks for the link.

It's clear that my system way over performs QB's requirement. Unfortunately, I'm certain QB's and support are looking at the System clock speed - period.

It's sort of nuts that they do not wish to understand Intel's Turbo Boost and the rest of the performance values and although I'll give it a shot, I doubt even if I were to convince the escalated support person of the facts - they probably cannot override the program looking at System.
