It's weird though. We don't get a black screen. Things all look normal, except the mouse and keyboard have no influence on the PC at all. It takes a hard reboot to get things back.

I have successfully converted her to using Firefox and Chrome. If she absolutely must use Edge, and she has to for some things for her work, she knows to expect some strangeness. So far, there has been no fix from MS for it that I can tell.

Try running a Clean Boot. If this works, you can leave it this way, or you can add one Service or Startup Item at a time until the computer starts locking up, then you will know the culprit.

If I suspected that Edge was causing any problems on my PC, it would be, "Gone in 60 Seconds".
I use it only occasionally, and so far it's never given me any problems. Firefox is my main browser.

I hear the word "Ramdom" quite frequently, mostly associated with civil violence.
But when I hear it associated with a Computer...... it cracks me up!

Because, in a computer there is nothing that happens "Randomly". It's all Cause and Effect.
An operator sees the effect and a technician finds the cause....and eliminates it.
It's what I did for a living for all my working life. And still do to some extent, with my own computers.

By that logic there is no Random. Every problem has a cause and effect. To keep my reply short, my interpretation of randomly means that it happens occasionally and for no known reason.

It IS known, just not by you! That's why we have Technicians, of all kinds. A technician works on a lot of different machines and develops a mental library of Cause and Effect.

Even though this old tech has been retired for 18 years, I still get calls for help, from my old customers. I don't run service calls anymore but when I can't help them over the phone, I do know I good shop that I can refer them to.
