Random window takes foreground priority

Have annoying bug: e.g. open notepad from folder, but then randomly explorer window that is beneath it jumps to foreground and this happens with any 2 windows, some that is open but beneath it randomly jumps into foreground over current window. Had even game randomly alt+tab to desktop and some other window was open any idea what this might be?

Hi empleat.
Is that Windows version correct? It’s a bit outdated in regards to updates available, is there any particular reason you haven’t updated to 23H2?
You could backup/image your system and try updating?

There is/was a known issue with some windows popping up in Windows 11, mainly File Explorer which has/had the ability to minimize games and other apps you might be working with at the time. I have no idea when it was introduced (possibly with a 22H2 update also) but it was apparently addressed in a December update, I believe. There is an 8 page thread about the occurrence it in this forum.

Since 22H2, File Explorer windows sometimes spontaneously move to the front

Small update... I've since removed Armoury Crate, however this is still happening at the exact same time. So no more asus events however there are two logon events recorded at the same time - I had initially assumed these were connected to the asus event but now it seems not. There is nothing...

I had this issue many moons ago. I did nothing to correct it and after several reboots it corrected itself.

No idea what caused it and I have not seen it since.

I am completely up to date though with 23H2 Build 22631.2861 and all available updates installed.

I have the same problem with all versions of Windows 11.
And since Windows 10, UAC is also known to not bring itself to front but instead flushing on taskbar.
