That is is what I got when I tried t add to the previous post.

I saw several posts there saying If I did NOT like Windows 11, it was easy to go back Windows 10. the only way iI know is to factory reset. To me this is NOT easy since itt wypes out all my installed software.

I get that message when I inadvertently add my reply between any quoted message in my reply.

To roll back to Windows 10 it must be done within 10 days or for the user to have a system image for Windows 10 to which they can return to. Otherwise a user has to clean install Windows 10.
I’ve saved a Macrium image of Windows 10.

Spot on.. but just for more information for others that may read this.. there is a way to extend the time period on the roll back to 60 days. It's mentioned in this forum on how to do that.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Yes, you have to extend it while there's still a Windows.old to go back to. Once the 10 days are up and it's automatically deleted you've lost your chance.

If something goes wrong or you just don't like Windows 11... restore from your backup.

You won't "lose anything" when you restore from a backup. Make sure to make the Rescue Media too.

Huffman, you don't seem to be here and watching this thread develop. You have all of the advice you could possibly need in the posts in this thread to (1) try 11; (2) if you don't like it, roll back to 10; or (3) restore the image you made with MR, and you'll be right back where you started.

It ain't hard.

The major option, in your case, it seems to me, is to stay right where you are. Remember the Peter Principle. You don't need 11, and you've reached your ideal level of user-OS compatibility in 10, so my sincerely considered advice is : Stay with what you're on.

I have found it to be slightly faster, and the increased internet security is nice to have, and its new without being so different that a low end user like me has too much difficulty learning to get on with it. Plus, the update from W10 is free.
