Solved Recommended MS Word icon?

Hi,

I have a question,

1. I have observed that If I open multiple Word documents (4/5) simultaneously, at times one may display it's icon as a blank notepad like, vs Word icon?

2. Could the reason be that I am opening them too soon OR W11/ MS Off issue OR could it be related to the latest Brave browser.....just a thought?

sfc/scan is fine.

The laptop isn't that old and has decent specs.....

I just experimented, that IF I open even 20 MS Word documents BUT after giving a while to the laptop after a reboot I don't get a single blank under Recommended.

To sum I think a booting up of the laptop is taking a toll like OneDrive (which I don't use), when it's over than it's fine.

You don't need all that stuff in Startup.
The only ones you "need" would be Macrium, Realtek and possibly Intel Graphics Command Center.
I see you have most disabled already.

I don't recognize the Intel one, as I am on AMD/Nvidia build. But it "sounds" like you may need that in Startup.
I also don't have that MaxxAudio, so I can't comment on that.

Also... don't forget, that many of the Windows Services are set to "automatic (delayed start)" setting in Services.
What this means is that, after you boot a computer some things will be a little strange for the first 5 minutes or so.

I noticed all your posts this morning.
Don't do like I sometimes do and... over-worry about things.

Give the comp a few minutes to "get it together" after you turn it on, and for the rest...
just run sfc /scamnnow and DISM... Restore Health every now and then.

I know I rant about Microsoft every now and then, but with Windows 10 and 11.... the operating system does a pretty good job of looking after itself.

A little CCleaner every day, and a backup before major changes, and you should be fine.

That is a personal choice... in my case... I just remove what in my opinion is MS bloat.
Check this REVO screen shot of the Windows Apps I "don't" remove, in W10 and W11...

I waited a while to be sure and then removed "Power Automate" as well.
Note: I don't use Widgets at all, so there may be a few Windows Apps that may affect Widgets, if removed.

I'm on a stand alone, un-sharing, un-Xboxing, un-Teams, and un-- Cortana, OneDrive, Widgets, etc., computer.

Yeah, for me... I didn't need/want all that... I started with the easy ones... like all the Xbox junk.
Then I just went through the list, removing what I was never gonna use.

That picture I posted in post #10, is of the only things that I left installed.
I removed everything else. But that's what IIIIIIII wanted. You have to do your own "personalizations".
The items remaining in my pic above, should definitely be left alone.

If you want to mess with REVO and Windows Apps... make a fresh, full backup, then start with the obvious ones that YOU don't want.
If you break something you DO use, then restore from your backup and try again.
But you have to customize your REVO work, do your wants.

The things I didn't remove, I am pretty sure are necessary for basic Windows 11 functionality.
Pssst (looks both ways)... I even removed EDGE !!

Well, technically I don't "need Paint or Paint 3D, but I figured I'd leave them for emergencies.
I use Paintshop Pro 7.04, but sometimes I need a screen shot of Paint for posting purposes.
And Paint 3D can do some pretty cool things, if I ever decide to learn to do them.

In place of WMP I use Foobar2000 (just for music) and VLC Media Player (for anything video related).

Yeah... I spent 1-3 weeks going through the Windows Apps.
If I wasn't sure, I googled: Can I remove xxxxxxx, etc.

I don't have very many regular programs either...

I tend to just install Windows 10/'11 and leave that's there. For apps that seem to auto start and pop up with something, if I don't want them I disable them and just run them when I do. For example, while I use Docker desktop from time to time, it's not something that I use often on this machine So, I have it disabled.

This is my primary Windows 10 gaming desktop and it runs fantastic.

Yours W11 must be extremely light and responsive. I too use most 3rd party apps vs. MS ones, like VLC, Image burn, Brave/Chrome.

Can NTLite be used to uninstall vs. Revo OR as recommended.

Looking at my list of Windows apps in Revo, after creating a full backup can I remove apps in batches of 3/4 and see how W11 is running?

I've always used REVO, so I don't really have experience with any other uninstallers.

It depends on the apps. For example, if you're not gonna Xbox... you can remove all of them.
They still have to be removed one at a time though. I always scan for and remove leftovers too.
That's where things get risky, and why you need the backup.
