There are a few websites I visit that want an "OK" for cookie settings. Often there is the choice of Agree And Continue, or Edit Settings Or Disagree.

Many of us want as few cookies as possible, so we click on Edit Settings Or Disagree. Most times the default of this setting is only necessary cookies.

Is that really the default? Is pressing Edit Settings Or Disagree, and it defaulting to NOT choosing other advertising cookies be the same as pressing Agree And Continue, and accepting the necessary only cookies? OR would Agree And Continue select all cookies?

Me? I just click Accept for the cookies.
I don't really care about cookies. :-)

Well maybe I care a little. I run CCleaner (v5.78), quite a bit.
In CCleaner, I whitelist the cookies for sites I want to stay logged in to.

yea, mostly the same for me. But if you press the edit option, it makes it appear that the default is necessary cookies only. So if they get you to believe that, you might just press the easy Accept option.

Well, that's sort of why I use CCleaner. Any site I go to... I just click Accept.
Then every 1 or 2 days I run CCleaner, and all the un-whitelisted cookies are back again.

If those sites were serious about letting you Edit or not-accept... the cookies wouldn't be on their site in the first place. It's sort of the same philosophy as "limited lifetime" guarantees. LOL

In other words those cookie choices on websites, are pretty much BS.
Some sites are a bit more honest... they don't even have an Edit choice. :D

Some don't have any choices but Accept... like Minitool's website...

I'm too old to be... "fighting City Hall". I just click Accept on all sites.
Because they told me that... "We use cookies to improve your experience". :D

Most browsers (probably all), have global cookie settings. You'll probably have more luck going that route.
Take Firefox for example... in Tools > Settings, you have these global cookie options...

Obviously they want to protect themselves. It's getting pretty standard to force us to agree to their terms. Sometimes you can just "walk away", but like on my TV, it had a required firmware update and new terms and agreements. If you do not agree, you loose functionality of your TV that you bought years ago.

With "terms" often many pages long, most people just do click Accept on them. I try not to deal with deceptive companies, but just about all companies play this game. At some point we will be a victim.
