If the system drive is readable, I would do one of 2 things.

Once your data is preserved, you have several options to try. See if you can get into recovery (hold shift key down while booting) If so, try reset option. Choose reset and keep files.
If that doesn't work, you can use an installation usb drive to get into recovery. Option 7 in this tutorial. Boot to Advanced Startup (WinRE) in Windows 11 Tutorial


If you're unable to reset, you can install windows using this tutorial. Keep in mind there is a possibility that that notebook will NOT run 23h2. I don't know the specs of the device. It's worth a try clean installing 23h2 first.

im sorry I got really confused.. lunix, , mint cinnamon, Rufus, ubunto. i did read the link. So I'm guessing the link will make an operating system on the usb and I will be able to get my files? Then should I use Installation media creator i will make on usb from a working system which is win10. This is my bios boot options, nothing for usb.

I cant advise you on setting up a Linux USB but booting to a USB on a Samsung is usually done by repeatedly pressing F10 on your keyboard after pressing on the power button. Stop pressing F10 when you see options or the USB is booting.

I have read this thread, and as much as the advice is solid, nobody has provided you with a step by step process on how to accomplish anything.
I would honestly consider taking the advice of letting a professional do this. If your SSD has failed, your best option of retrieving your files without error or further corruption would be to get on the phone and get some quotes.
Explaining that the advice given was that via a live Linux distro USB you could retrieve your personal files (if they don’t understand this, don’t use them). Explain that this is your top priority above having Windows repaired. Any attempt to repair Windows (in my opinion) could be fatal to your precious files.

I personally believe that the way to rescue data is to not use a Live Linux system booted onto the laptop, but instead disconnecting the harddisk and mounting it on a different computer. A PC repair shop should be able to do this without drama.

ty. f10 gets me to boot menu as does holding F8. But there is no option for usb boot.

Try entering the BIOS and disabling Fast Boot. And then in the BIOS, if possible, set boot priority to USB first or try F10 again.

The fast boot is likely to be in the “Security” section of that photo you posted. Save it after disabling Fast Boot option and restart.
F10 again. Go back into the boot option to see if the USB is listed.
If no joy, go back in to the Security section and try disabling “Secure Boot” also?

@antspants I hope this reply comes through. Having an issue with wifi on tablet and I lost what I was typing (thankfully I have a BT keyboard). I did call the local 'pc wizard" since my wizardry is at it's end but he's 3000 miles away but he was very nice to have a chat and listen to my issue. I could not tell him what type SSD I have, first one for me in this laptop. I didn't know it was SSD until I tried to run a defrag haha. I was able to xcopy my documents (5160 files) & downloads (1225) directories from C: users to my Seagate external drive. I haven't used cmd prompt in years so it was kind of fun! I've triple checked to make sure my important ones are on it. Some I had saved to USB drives (tax returns and other important stuff) Ya, I need to clean out, AGAIN. There is a backup on the external from Dec and yup need to do it more often esp for my spreadsheets. I think my next step will be the Installation Media tool from hubby's desktop that runs Win 10. The only issue I have now is finding how it will boot from usb. Only options are "Windows Boot Manager" (default) and "Disabled". I've never seen bios screen like this and it's been a LONG time since I've had to mess with bios, probably back with win 3.1, 95, 98, xp, vista. Thank you for responding again.

yes those are under "security" and both on (secure boot control" and "fast bios mode".

I am honestly not sure
When you disabled fast boot, rebooted and went back in to the BIOS. In the Boot tab, was there no option to select the USB?

What happens if you keep pressing F2 after pressing Power on.
It’s just that the BIOS you show with the colourful user interface seems basic. I am wondering if there is a deeper BIOS. The info on your laptop and getting a USB to boot has conflicting info on the web, with different videos showing different BIOS’s

oh poop! I see "usb lan pxe oprom". no clue what it means but it's off. I haven't made boot usb yet

yes it;s much deeper. The colorful UI surprised me. I;m used to simple black n white from the old days

Can you see any reference to UEFI in the BIOS. Do you see if the BIOS is UEFI with CSM or just UEFI?

Create the RUFUS USB first, chuck it in the laptop. unless you’re trying to boot to another USB for some reason.

Just google simple terms like "Samsung Series 9" disable fast boot in bios” or "Samsung Series 9" Boot to USB”

Place “Samsung Series 9” in quotations so as to get more direct results

yes, right here. I don't think this one attached before. Now I see"usb lan pxe oprom" whateva that means :) i'll ask MR google
