Solved Remote Desktop Connection

I tried to use Remote Desktop Connection from a new desktop running Windows 11 Pro with a Ryzen 7 to an older Intel Generation 4 laptop running Windows 11 Pro without TPM or secure boot. It would not connect. It would not accept the password.

Used teamviewer with no issues.

A common mistake is using the incorrect password. If you're using a Microsoft account on the PC you're trying to remote into, you need to use those account credentials.

Also make sure the PC you're trying to remote into is set to allow it....

On Windows 11 go to Settings > System > click "About". Under Device specifications click the "System Protection" link to get the panel above. Click the Remote tab, and check the boxes as shown. The other thing is the PC needs to be on (not sleep).

In order to create a remote connection, you first need to enable the Remote Desktop functionality. Whether you have a Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise edition, you will have no problem turning on this option on your computer. Probably the easiest way is to enable the remote desktop option in Windows 11 is by using the Settings app, step-by-step instructions here:

Once done, your PC is set up to connect to other RDP-ready machines.

I ran into this issue myself with Windows 11. If you are trying to logon using a Microsoft account make sure that you allow logon without Windows Hello since Windows Hello is not possible via Remote Desktop. See the screenshot below...

After reading your post, I tested this since I am using Windows Hello on 3 Windows 11 PC's and had no issues with remote desktop. I use fingerprint on my laptop, facial on my main desktop, and pin on my backup desktop. None of those affected remote login.

You just need to do what I posted in post #4; And if using a Microsoft account, you'll need "those" credentials (email & password) to login when using Remote Desktop.

The "More choices" is to use your current account or chose a different account for login.

That said, I'm not sure what you image is supposed to show as far as the settings you chose?

It's supposed to show what I highlighted with a red rectangle, namely, to allow logon without Windows Hello. For me, I have to turn off this setting in order to logon via remote desktop. As I noted, you cannot logon via remote desktop to an account that requires Windows Hello authentication so you have to turn this setting off to allow for a non Windows Hello logon. At least in my setup, this is 100% needed.
