Unfortunately all my backups had office installed as well. It was an odd one - revo didn't work either. Microsoft couldn't even get it removed. Or it was removed but still converted Office 2024 into Professional Plus 2021 - hence it needed a clean install. Which then burned out the computer, so had to clean install on another computer. Hence I wished I had never purchased Office Pro Plus 2021 for £30 - time and money and hassle in the end. I had a thread on it. I think if you replace it with another pro plus version it's ok, but if you try and replace it with Office from Microsoft - no go.All software does things to the registry.
That's why most of us use REVO Uninstaller (with it's "scan" for leftovers function), to uninstall software.
Another option when trying out software is to make a fresh backup first.
Then if you want to "completely" remove it... just restore from a backup.
I used Revo Uninstaller. After it used the uninstaller program that came with Libre Office, Revo found more entries the uninstaller missed. Then I found others that Revo had missed. And I just use my pc to learn about pc computers (my main computer is my Mac laptop), I didn’t have any problem reloading Windows.It's £119 to buy it outright, which is supported till 2029 I think . So from now would work out approx £30 a year (or £2.50 a month equivalent) - which I don't think is too bad. Other than that I have only used Libre office, and Abiword. If you just want a word replacement, and not full office, you could try abiword. There's also a portable version. OR you could just use Wordpad
I can't see what the difficulty was with uninstalling libre office either it should just uninstall normally and no need to reinstall Windows. However I did have to reinstall Windows to completely uninstall a "cheap" copy of MS Office Professional Pro Plus 2021 - which was a total pain and why I next bought the full price version of Ms Office Home from the Microsoft store.
Revo has been great except for this one case. Oh well. Like I said, I’m still learning about pc’s, so it’s all good.
Maybe it’s because I live in Australia. But I just looked and it would cost me $219 (Aus) to buy MS Office 2019.

Yup! That's how you can sign out immediately after you sign in!
You should never "replace" any version of MS Office with any other version. It should be a complete uninstall (Revo, Major Geeks) and a new install of the other version

??? That screams linking to some already signed-in MS account (i.e. elsewhere on the device) ... if, in fact, it did happen at all, that way ... ??? I could also suspect the possibility when you buy a cheap license from a nefarious source you may not get the edition/version you wanted. Many installed MS Office programs are generic and the version that becomes activated is dependent on the license key

No not Microsoft's fault - I think it was a dodgy version of Office Pro Plus 2021. Once I had a clean install, Office 2024 installed fine. It's actually very easy. You can choose the folder in which it is saved. You can even work offline.
If you have a look at that thread I linked above, this seems to be normal now - it confused me as well. It's just terminology calling it office 365 when it's Office home - just ignore it, if it's just installing office.
Agree with this. I had issues. The software worked ok but didn't act as it should at removal time.
I tried to convey about the keys cheap and they give you the link and help to download the Office software. It doesn't matter where you live. You bought the wrong Office. There are many other websites with the same deals (and many different Office versions), doesn't have to be just from them.
