Restore photo date taken

I want to organize my photos by date taken, but unfortunately over the years when I have moved my pictures it has changed the dates on them. I even have some pictures with a "modified" date that precedes the "taken" date. Are there any programs that will work with Windows 11 to restore dates in batches so I can organize my pictures chronologically by when they were taken? Thank you!

Do your files contain EXIF data?

If so, there is at least one tool that may do what you wish. One is jhead. Public domain. It is, however, a command line tool. (No GUI.)

I've never used it.

File Explorer, View, Details, right-click the blank area at right of those column headings shown, checkmark on Date taken.

The sorting, ascending or descending. can be changed by clicking the heading of any column.
Or maybe I missed the mark.

I have pics from 2004 taken with an Olympus camera that probably don't have the data? Here is a screenshot of one taken in 2004 but the date says 2015. I have other pictures that have date taken and date modified, but the date taken was altered.

Pictures taken in 2004 may or may not have all the data, those in my reponse were taken in 2007 and most likely I took them off the camera a week later, reflected in the Date modified. I use a Canon EOS 60D digital camera.

If the Windows dates have been altered, and there is no EXIF data for the image, then I know of no other date information associated with the files.

Corrections/additions would be welcomed.
