OK.

I have a bit of a weird problem. Basically, on my laptop, I have Intel integrated graphics and a discrete AMD card.

I thought disabling the Intel graphics would get my PC to use the AMD hardware, right?

But, when I do this, rounded corners disappear. It's really weird.

Does anyone know what's going on??

For years I've used a lot of old custom icons and in Windows 11 they do not show rounded, I'm sure it's because of the way the .ico files were designed. My user folders use the default icons (like yours) which are rounded. It may be my old eyes, but in your photo, the user icons appear to be rounded to me, whereas the Archer icon does not. That is because it is not a default Windows icon and TPLink has not redesigned/modded it so that it will appear rounded. Also, my device manager looks exactly like yours as well. I use integrated Intel graphics. And yes, disabling the onboard graphics should make it use discrete graphics if that is the way it is set up in bios.
Have you looked in the AMD Radeon software to see if there is any option that might affect the appearance?
Could you show a side by side screenshot of the same screen, one with AMD, one with Intel?

I thought with laptops, everything needs to use the integrated graphics as you can't disable the internal graphics as there would be no video if this was done, I would love to use my nVidia GPU over the integrated CPU Intel 630.

Well, look at it this way - if that was so, why have a discrete card at all?

Well, that's the point. There is no way around it. Maybe it's a AMD GPU thing but with nVidia and Intel, there is no way around it on 99% of machines out there. Otherwpeople wouldn't have to deal with the dwm.exe memory leak from the Intel drivers which was only fixed with the recent drivers after a year of complains. There is also no discrete card if you ever opened a laptop that has the dual GPUs, the nVidia is just a chip that is soldered to the motherboard right next to the CPU and not a modular card like it was when there was dedicated GPUs. This is even on i7 8th generation CPUs such as the i7-8750H.

The integrated GPU will always be used first and everything routes through it and only switches to the dedicated when needed since the display can only be electronically and physically connected to one of them but not both. You will not have any video if the integrated is disabled since the display itself is hardwired to the integrated video unless ofcourse you are using an external monitor, then that's different. But disabling it in device manager is not really disabling, some systems have the option to disable it in the BIOS which is the only way it's truly disabled, otherwise it wouldn't even be seen in device manager.

Answer #3 is the best explanation, unless you have a gaming laptop with a dedicated video card, the other GPU is just a co-processor, it's not dedicated.
