Rufus Introduces "Extended Windows 11 Installation" Support (Disables TPM/Secure Boot/RAM Requirements)

Hi folks
I used to be a fan of Rufus - but "too much featuritus" as is the problem with a lot of software -adding ever more features rather kills the original reason why people used it in the first place --in the case of Rufus --simply to make an easy bootable usb from an iso - that's the only reason I would use it today -- (or dd on Linux is also good).

For installing Windows these days on physical hardware I always install to a "Virtual Hard drive --vhdx file Note not a VM and use dism /Apply-Image to install the system. Works for me far better - and can install to external or internal drives at will -- all proper full bootable running Windows systems.

If you create the iso via UUPDUMP or get it via MCT etc, then simply mount the iso on Windows and appl image via dism and update the boot manager via bcdboot.

I've posts on explaining how to do this easily enough. I have several W10 and W11 systems on a single external SSD, as well as W2K22 server and a Linux distro (Arch Linux) - no problem booting or update any of these systems.

Incidentally done this way - you can install Windows 11 on totally unsupported hardware too !!!!
On the same computer - booting W10 --there's a warning note when you run WU (for W10 updates) "This machine is not capable of running W11" -- but the W11 system on the same system boots perfectly. !!!!

Cheers
jimbo

Hi all. I actually did download the Rufus version that allowed creation of Windows 11 without the system requirements. It also had the ability to create bootable external hard disk drives, useful for creating installation media on old hard disks. However I just downloaded the latest version of Rufus, 3.17.1846, and it doesn't have the option to install to external hard drives.

Anybody know what's going on, or if there's a way to get ahold of the version that does? Thanks!

I've sussed it. By MS making it difficult to upgrade to W11, this has meant people who would probably not bother are riled up and go though hoops and loops to defeat MS. Classic reverse psychology to get numbers up LOL.

For all you people looking for a way to install Windows 11 on non-compatible hardware, Rufus has just made things a lot easier.
Rufus 3.16 has introduced "Extended Windows 11 Installation" Support.

Plug in your UFD, select your Windows 11 ISO, then select "Extended Windows 11 Installation (No TPM/No Secure Boot/8GB- RAM)" from the "Image Option" menu.

Hi,
That's the Boot section in yellow you're looking at, not the Image options section where the tpm/... disable list is that is shown on post 1 here

Is that an official Windows 11 ISO? if not just wondering if it's a hacked up one then Rufus won't display the options
