Hello.... My screen resolution for my TV is off and I can't get the right setting under Windows 11 no matter which setting I set it at ( Scale and Display resolution ) I know with Windows 7 I was able to manually resize the screen, now with Windows 11 I can't seem to find the same setting. Anyone know what options I can try? Thx

Is there another screen connected along with the TV?
When you go to Settings > System > Display > is the TV showing up as one of the displays?
What is the brand and model number of the TV?
Are you getting a picture/signal on the TV screen?

Hi... No other screen. Yes its showing on the display. The TV is a 43"Toshiba, not sure of model but its about 10 years old . Yes, I am able to use it but again screen isn't right, its bigger than I like it to be. Taskbar is basically hidden. I know with windows 7 I was able to re-size this to my liken but I don't see that option with windows 11

"43"Toshiba" is not enough. We need the exact model number.

This sounds like a mismatch of the aspect ratio. Some TV's when presented the "wrong" aspect ratio will either squeeze (distort) the picture to fit everything on screen, or zoom (cut off the sides). Depending on your TV, you need to go the setup menu and adjust the behavior.

Or change the height X width settings from Windows, until your TV is happy.

Look at your TV menu and disable "Overscan"

If that doesn't work, go into the TV’s Settings Menu >>> Picture Settings >>> look for:
  • Aspect Ratio
  • Display Area
  • Screen Fit
  • Just Scan
  • 1:1 Pixel Mapping
Choose the one that shows the full desktop without cutting off edges

You have overscan on.
Should be using PC input selection on the TV, overscan off.
That will be somewhere in your TV Menu system.
EDID info is sent via HDMI to the PC so it should list supported video modes of the TV correctly, the one marked (recommended) in Windows Display settings is the native resolution of the TV display panel.

This has nothing to do with Windows 11, been the same going back 20 years to Windows XP, every version since then.

It looks like the TV is using overscan (image enlargement) and this crops the taskbar and more area at the sides and top. You have to cancel overscan so you can see the whole desktop. In most TVs this is done when adjusting the picture aspect ratio to "original" or "simple scan" or "16:9". Cycle through the various aspect ratio settings to find the one that works best. My 19" Sony TV monitor gives two settings 'normal" and "full". The "full" is the one that fills the screen without cropping or black areas around. Overscan is a display setting where a TV or monitor zooms in on a picture, hiding the outer edges, a legacy feature from CRT TVs that was meant to hide picture imperfections Today it's no need for overscan, so modern sets display the whole picture. The exception is some older LCD TVs that still had overscan for use with old analogue channels. Thankfully it can be cancelled. If the aspect ration doesn't help, see all the relevant picture controls.

Thank you all for your help... It was set a Full, when I selected Native its all good. I guess each port has its own set up because when I'm viewing the TV its set at Native, thanks again

When I first saw it on my own LG smart TV it was rather annoying, so I found how to get the whole picture. Glad to help.
