Screenshot problem

I downloaded some screenshots for printing but then found after a period of inactivity the screenshots popping up on my screen, I have tried file manage/pictures screenshot and deleted them but they still appear. any advice on how to permanently delete these?

When you say popping up on your screen, do you mean as desktop backgrounds?
If so, turn off spotlight desktop background.
