Screenshots problem

When i take a screenshot on my new pc, windows 11, i use the windows key and the print sreen, the shot is then found in a folder called screenshots in the files, My problem is when i go to open the shot its all in computor code, please can someone help, as i have always been ok taking screenshots as described with no problems.

I just disabled the "new" Print Screen function.
I went back to the old way... hit the PrtSc key and it saves the screen shot to the clipboard.
I can then paste it into an image editor... etc.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
Also check File Associations, that scenario can happen if the wrong program/app is set to open the file type. This is a portion of what I got opening a .jpg in Notepad:

where do i find file associations settings, i tried the first thing, but it still did all that code stuff like you have put on for me to see.

i am having real problems with this, i am trying to take a screenshot of an order receipt, the shot goes to the folder and its just when i open it its all in codel, i need some very simple instructions for this please.

Right-click Start, click Settings, go to Apps, scroll down to the extension for the file, choose an app.

Thanks for all the help folks, i finally found that if i made photos the default for .png files i was able to see the screenshot as it should be, many thanks to all, i am not really stupid just a bit dim at times lol.
