Well it works better for you. I have this function greyed out. It's working, but it's greyed out. Can anyone suggest a solution here?

UPD! Just solve that... The reason was a wrong faulty suggestion to enable this
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search]
"EnableDynamicContentInWSB"=dword:00000001
from this thread:

Redirecting

If you set "EnableDynamicContentInWSB"=dword:00000001 this, your toggle will be greyed out! Don't do this!
Funny that the author of this thread asked how to make it not greyed out and got a solution that does exactly the opposite. I forgot I added this registry parameter when was trying to solve an issue before... Now i just deleted all those useless entries cause they do nothing, only make it worse. The only solution that is working to restore that function is the previous one me and HodorongTronc used.
you have wheater, but not wheater+more, in personalization wheater is put on, but in lockscreen i dont see widget...

I checked sfc/scannow, I get an error, I used DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:F:\Sources\install.wim, now sfc/scannow no longer gives me an error, but I no longer have the image in taskbar search :(

Microsoft doesn't give up. Just installed a cumulative update and the image and this function disappeared again. Will try to restore it... why are they doing it?

UPD: seems like the latest update again replaced that JSON file enabling V2 gleam stuff. I again changed permissions, edited the file and got the image and "Show Search Highlights" function in place. Will probably have to do it each time after cumulative updates.

Fun fact: they still haven't fixed that elements outline issue on buttons and etc. But they keep cutting out this Bing feature by replacing that JSON file.

Yes that's why we have this topic. Cause you can use the solution offered above to restore it. Of course if you want this. Cause I see nobody needs t his function :))

Hi everyone, thanks everyone for working on this!

After struggling for a while I found a SOLUTION.

Along the previously needed steps (see below), I also needed to disable

Code:
"$comment": "Third party search providers show in search.",
"guid": "{f2775604-739c-4cd2-8463-eb040f7e8bf7}",

The previously needed step was to enable this. Check earlier in the thread and other threads for more detailed instructions.

Code:
"$comment": "First party Taskbar Gleam customization is shown.",
"guid": "{61bf5046-c5db-4cd3-b6bf-929e5b421a6a}",

The file is "C:\Windows\System32\IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json". You need to take ownership of it and allow write privileges.

I also have done other stuff like the IsDynamicSearchBoxEnabled and BingSearchEnabled registries, as well as disabled 43572857 with ViveTools, but I'm not sure if it is necessary.

If all else fails, this thread describes how to download the pictures each day. It seems to update at 8 (UK time) each day.

Upon watching some new YouTube videos about Windows 11 latest builts, including 25H2 preview, I found out that those guys actually have that highlights image working in their search bar... Am i missing something? Like i figured it out, the problem started when Microsoft officially cut Bing API support. However, seems like it's still working for some systems or.... regions maybe? Any clues what else may be changed to restore this function?
