September Google Pixel Drop: New Pixel VIP updates, Pixel Watch features, and more

Your Pixel devices become even more helpful with Pixel Drops. They’re automatic software updates that send new and upgraded features to your phone. (1)

When will I see the new features?
Supported Pixel devices will receive these software updates starting today. The rollout of these features will continue over the coming weeks in phases, depending on carrier and device.

You will receive a notification once the system update is available for your device. Update to the latest Android version and update your apps.

Here are just some of the features to look forward to in the September Pixel Drop:

Pixel VIPs updates
Stay seamlessly connected to your VIP contacts. With newly designed, expanded widget options, you can use quick actions to send a call or text to your VIP contacts with a single tap straight from your home screen. New, glanceable notification badges ensure you never miss an urgent or unread message, and you can also switch effortlessly between VIPs using the bottom floating menu.

Harry Potter Audiobook Packs
Instantly customize your Pixel with Harry Potter Audiobook Packs to celebrate the release of Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions on Audible. One tap changes your wallpaper, icons, and sounds with elements from the audiobooks - no wand required. To begin your journey to Hogwarts, all eligible Pixel users will receive a two-month Audible free trial.(2)

Scam Detection comes to your keyboard and expands to new regions
Pixel is making it easier to spot a scam before you even reply, wherever you chat. Starting in the U.S. on Pixel 6 and newer phones, Scam Detection is arriving directly on your Gboard (3) across your favorite messaging apps. When you start typing a response to a suspicious message, a "Likely scam" warning chip will appear right above your keys. Processing happens in real-time and on your device, keeping your conversations private to you (4).

This adds another layer of defense alongside Scam Detection in notifications, which automatically flags suspicious incoming chat notifications with a “Likely scam” warning chip before you even open them. Already available in the US for Pixel 6+ devices, we’re now expanding this feature to nine new countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, and the United Kingdom) and six new languages (Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, and Spanish), helping protect even more people worldwide.

Pause Point expands to more Pixel devices
Pause Point helps you cut down on unintentional app use. It adds a pause before you open a distracting app of your choice, giving you a moment to decide whether you really want to continue. First introduced on Pixel 11, Pause Point is now rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices as part of this update.
