I find my 2,300Mbps helps with bigger downloads like the Nvidia graphics drivers and large video game downloads on Steam...
and battle .net for say World of Warcraft updates or installs...
For my purposes 1 Gbps is adequate. We use a considerable number of devices here, on the home front, but the real deal breaker for me was fibre to my door. I feel bad for people still on copper. The pings I get now are the best I've ever seen.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

yeah, the city I live in still uses copper to the inside of the building, however the utility polls have fiber on them..
hence I can get 2,300Mbps download speeds..
would be nice for fiber but that is not likely to happen anytime soon..
Comcast is test fiber to building in a few major cities.

I'm a bit of an anomaly. I live in the Canadian North-West in a tiny town. Most towns with even 10 times our population or higher don't get the internet speed that can be delivered here but because of the OIL we get premium service. IF I wanted I could get 10 Gbps but I don't need it. Unless you're in Canada knowing who my ISP is won't be much help to you. Canadian Fiber Optics

Forgot to mention that I pay less than 100 US per mo and that includes my land line. No data caps and I can call anywhere in North America at no additional expense.

YA! This the old backup. In case things go south. It'll give me access to everything I need.
sad thing is when you get over 500 mbs, there are no services or websites that give you anything close to that for up and down.
Not true. Plenty of services can use well over 500 Mbps — Steam, PlayStation downloads, torrent clients, OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive, and others — especially when raw download speed actually matters.

Here's what my electrical company charges for fiber internet in far southern Tennessee. The prices aren't great, but they aren't bad. Their service has been great, I haven't had an outage. I'm using their 1 Gig plan. I was paying $165 a month for roaming Starlink since I'm way out in the sticks.

Not too bad for a network with 100s of devices connected at any given time during the day. At least it's not the typical US ISP with a DL 20x faster than the upload. It's much, much faster at night...
