Hi, I have almost same CPU Ryzen 7900x which is at same level. Have you updated BIOS version and installed all drivers from AMD ? Check stability ? OCCT has all the tests

Run some benchmark programs ? Standard ones like Cinebench 23 and 2024 and Passmark Performance test ? Results from those can tell you if some fine adjustments could be made.

That's why I hang onto my Haswells. I've managed to O.C. both to over 4 GHz on air cooling without half the effort I made on newer AMD chips of reportedly better quality.

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

I don't own those components but I would comment that you have some exceptional hardware there. Not long ago you could only achieve those speeds on LN2. Lexar has really been upping their game lately. I have a thumb drive a little smaller than the tip of my baby finger that provides me 128 GB of storage and can be fitted to standard USB 3.1 or type C with no compromise on data transfer speeds made by Lexar. It has become my favourite thumb drive. My elder daughter uses both Lexar and Crucial SSDs for content creation and photo editing and has thanked me for replacing her less reliable Western Digital drives with these. Now I'm curious just what the record speed for that CPU you have might be.

Thank you very much dear CountMike, you are right our processors are of the same level and the one you own was in my goto list, i bought the 9900X because i got it at a good price. Yes, i did update the MB BIOS and the chipset firmware (was my first task anyway) your tips are very welcome and useful, I'll test the system with the SW you recommended and will update with results and comments. Thank you again for your feedback.

Curious to see or hear about what others think of 14th Gen or the Ultra, I was looking to upgrade but the more I read I don't see how the cost justifies the performance boost.

Dear Scannerman, thank you very much for your comment and your appreciation, so far i can say that the system runs flawlessly and amazingly fast (I come from a very old though reliable system, take a look to my system in my profile to have an idea). What i can tell as a kind of empiric benchmark is that making a system image of about 70 GB took 2.15 minutes, as this is my first new generation system I don't know if it's so unbelievable as i think, I couldn't believe my eyes, I'll update this post with results and comments.

Stay away from top models of 13th and 14th gen, they had and probably still have troubles bad enough to get Intel in serious troubles, They had serious fabrication faults and microcode that burned some out.
Cor Ultra are OK but not much improvement performance wise.

Yes. I read many reports ans watched videos supporting this view. Intel says it's the board manufacturer's fault because maximum settings are the default (allegedly). Board manufacturers blame Intel, of course, for failing to deliver what they promised. This is partly why I opted out for an older system board with a platform closer to something I'm familiar with. Alas, I didn't manage to escape issues associated with 7th gen platforms. 11th gen is probably the safest choice depending on one's needs. I'm a bit of a bandwidth hog so that's why I'm a sucker for work station platforms.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
Maybe that explains why many generations and models are still affordable and readily available.
Probably just wait and see how the Ultra pans out or a KS version.

sorry, old eyes love dark mode but tends to make smaller apps too dark with certain themes....updated system specs on profile just now as well lol
