SirCleaner Released - New Powerful Junk File Cleaner

v2.7.0 Released! – July 3rd, 2025
Massive amount of code changes and improvements over the entire program.

Help file added to the program. Both online and offline. Can be accessed through the title bar menu.

Updated the progress information that is shown when running a scan and cleaning. Now shows what item it is currently on as well as showing a time elapsed during scanning and cleaning.

New pro feature, Compact Browser Databases.

This tool will scan known browser storage locations for every single database file used, show the min amount of drive space saved, but also can help make the browsers faster by having the databases smaller and not using wasted space.

New feature, you can right click on any item in the cleaning list and view its cleaning rules.

New default colors for the program. Users who update can go to colors and choose Default from the color preset drop down list to set the new colors.

Improved Firefox Cache cleaning.

Fixed bug with “Other User Profiles” feature if a user’s profile folder was different than their username.

Improved “Other User Profiles” feature to now detect the apps to clean from the other user profiles if enabled.

Added new preview control to Find Duplicate Files tools. Clicking on a file in the results will now show a preview if supported on the system.

Title bar updated to now change colors when it loses focus when opening another window in the program, making it easier to see which window has focus.

Main program window can now be resized smaller than before and now shrinks itself if too large to fit on the screen. This is for people with lower resolutions and dpi set above 100%

Removed over 450 games from the cleaner, kept a few popular ones and all game launchers. Most of the games where old and not played. Now the list of possible things to clean went from 2370 to 1904. This also helps speed up the startup of the program as it won’t have to detect them.

Improved detection rules.

Updated the programs title bar buttons to be more like Windows 10/11.

Added new menu icon to the title bar to include a menu for quicker access to other areas in the program.

Added drop down on scan again button to go back to home screen.

Multiple UI changes.

The download has no malware. I think Defender does not like some of its abilities.

It is identified as Potentially unwanted app, so ignore that.

I just updated my SirCleaner version within the program. ESET Home Security Premium had no issues.

I really, really like the right-click "View Cleaning Rules."

This is huge improvement, Shane. My congratulations.

Have a great day.

Was obviously a false positive, looking forward to trying the latest version.

Microsoft does the false positive every single time I make a exe. Its a pain.
Basically every update I have to submit it to them to remove the false positive. Its always with their cloud definitions, so thankfully it only takes a few hours for them to remove it.

I'm so happy to be done with this update. Now I feel like the program is good enough to make a good first impression with new users vs the older builds.

I have a ton of things to catch up with in my home life because I was working every single day for weeks on this lol.
But after I get caught up on things I am going to start trying to get the program more known.

FYI I hate writing help files lol But I think I did ok with it, made it online and and offline help file with it. So expect changes to the help file as I get feedback on my bad writing and how to improve the help :-)

@SirShane ,

Solid update. Great work.

I know you have tested SirCleaner against CCleaner, but I was using System Ninja (SN) before becoming a SirCleaner (SC) convert. SC finds junk files that SN does not; but conversely, if I run SC first, and then SN, SN finds junk files that SC allegedly missed . . .

It's just a suggestion, but if you haven't done it yet because of the SC launch, I think it would be useful to test SC against other major junk file cleaners just to identify what they are deeming junk files that SC does not yet target, assuming those detections are legitimate . . .

I understand that your goal is to continue to develop SC into the premier, safe, junk file cleaner. This would seem to be a step towards that goal.

Just my two cents. Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

Please remember that Windows re-creates many of these files on every boot, so although SC did delete them, Ccleaner will find them as does SC (after a reboot).

This reminds me of the old door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman's ploy. He would ask the housewife to vacuum a carpet. Then he would vacuum it again with his superior model. Of course, his machine would lift more dust. Had he vacuumed wih his machine first and then asked the lady to vacuum with her machine, the same would have happened!

I use old stereotypes like housewife and he, because they were typical at that time.

It doesn't create backups, but all the cleaning options have been pretty well tested. Thanks to users here and such, been ran on a few thousands machines.

Always wise to do a system backup before trying any cleaning program none the less. But I've used it on all of my customers computers and all of my own so I don't worry about a backup with it at this point.

When it comes to system ninja and it finding things mine may not be, the best way to know is when you run mine right click on the scan list and click view all files. Then right click on that list and save it to a text file. Then save the system ninja scan to a text file as well, then I can compare what they both found and find any differences.

Yes some files do recreate at startup because of windows. That is fine, because while they may get created again they wont be the size they where, so space is still being saved. :-)

@SirShane ,

Thank you for that information about how to save the list of junk files found by SN. I was looking for an "export" button.

On Friday, when I do my weekly updates, backups, and scans of my two computers, I will run SC first, then SN, and send you the listing of SN found items. I will send it to your support email.

Thanks again. Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil
