sleep won't stay asleep

Like a seven month old, my sleep state will not stay asleep. Goes to sleep and then 2 seconds later it starts up again, going to the lock screen (which usually is not presented). This started after I updated to 2023-05, 2023-04 and 2023-02. I have tried a number of things to try to get it to sleep again, but nothing seems to work. I have searched the forums and followed threads to no avail. I just finished doing a reinstall of windows 11 Pro from an iso on my desktop and the current build is 22H2 22621.1702. I am plumb out of ideas.

I think my computer info shows (I am new to the forum), but if there are other questions about what is what, I will gladly fill you in. Self build from last November and up until last Friday everything was working just fine. I am on full off-grid solar so am very aware of electrical loads - that's why I prefer sleep mode. Hibernate does the same reawaken thing too. What I am not sure of is after the reinstall, I think the settings for screen and sleep automatic turnoffs are working. At least the screen goes dark, but the keyboard still shows power, as does the Spacemouse (3dConnexion).

Just ran powercfg -a and I have S3 but S0 , S1, and S2 are not supported. S3, Hibernate, Hybrid Sleep and Fast Startup are supported.
Anyone else have luck repairing this glitch?

Edit power plan > advanced > when playing media > set to allow to sleep.

Thanks. I don't have that particular option but the one "sharing media" was already set to prevent sleep.

I tried a few of these to add to the list in edit power-advanced, but still no joy.

In Device Manager, for each physical network adapter that appears, repeat these steps: double ckick (or, alternatively, right-click and choose Properties), go to the Power Management tab, make sure that the "Allow this device to wake the computer" checkbox is unchecked, click on OK.

Set sharing media to allow sleep. Try it and try to put the pc to sleep again.

Thanks for all the advice. I tried all of them. Note that the YouTube reference went to a vid that showed typing into a prompt on his screen and it was too fuzzy to see what was typed and no audio to describe what he typed.

I went through the entire Device Driver list and checked each entry for power settings. I turned all of them off that I found except the keyboard (so I could wake the pc back up). Did a Restart. Nothing worked - still wakes up.

I noticed that the first indication the sleep was being interrupted was the power light on the keyboard. So back into the device driver, disabled the keyboard and enabled my mouse to trigger the wake. This has worked! Not sure exactly why it does, but at least sleep is working again. If there is a reason why the keyboard triggers waking let me know.

You need to change the resolution, 1080p if you are having problem seen the command i have entered.

Execute powercfg /lastwake command to identify the event or device that is responsible for the last waking process. Once the results are shown, check the “Instance Path:” to see where it originated from (the USB or PCI port for instance) and look under “Type:” for the nature of the cause, typically a device or a wake timer.

Execute powercfg /devicedisablewake “Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)” command to disable wake for the device.

If above command wont work, head into your device manager by holding down the Windows-key + R and enter “devmgmt.msc”. In the device manager, search for the the device in question, right-click it and select “Properties”. Then simply switch to the “Power Management” tab and uncheck the box for “Allow this device to wake the computer”.

If your answers are Yes, No then reinstall your display driver.

Same in safe mode, so definitely a hardware issue. Will try to update or replace the driver for the keyboard.

do you use a ethernet for internet or wifi? if you use ethernet, unplug it and put it to sleep. let me know. (i only say this because i had this issue before on a win 10 machine until i did a reinstall. no idea what was causing that to be the cause).

DSL is our connection. THis happened after an MS update 2023-05 and -02. Bug in the code I reckon.

But I’m saying if you have your pc connected to your home network via hardline (Ethernet), unplug that cable and try sleep.

I disabled my protection scheme (AVG) and unplugged the computer from the router. I then activated the keyboard in device manager to allow the keyboard to interrupt sleep. Put the computer to sleep, and waitied. Keyboard power light showed up again, within seconds of sleep starting and monitors off. the only way i have ben able to get the computer to stay alseep is to not allow the keyboard to interrupt sleep and use the mouse to cancel the sleep. This works, but I m still curious why the keyboard wants to disrupt sleep. Dawned on me I have another keyboard. I am going to try swapping them.

Tried the swap. Still the same behavior. Sleep turns computer off, monitors off, then seconds later the power light on the keyboard turns on and sleep is cancelled.

This fixed it for me. After trial and error. The solution would be to enter the device manager and uncheck the box in your network adaptor that's allowing the network adaptor to wake the computer. I'm no expert but id say data entering the network adaptor is waking up the pc. After unchecking the box, my pc sleeps completely fine.
