Slow File Explorer - Media Folders

Is there a way to improve the speed at which File Explorer loads and sorts media files? Even when I have the view set to details or list (i.e. not loading thumbnails), it takes a long time to watch the "progress bar" complete indexing/loading the files. It's very annoying.

Did you try turning off the Indexing on Properties of the drive?

Should indexing be on or off? Wouldn't the preference be to have it on so it isn't constantly looking at file properties?

Default is to have that checked. As this implies the file properties are always shown, the indexing is optional.

Yep...I checked...I have had it unchecked for a while....on all my machines.

I've found that with the movies I have on my hard drive... turning OFF the "type" column heading, makes them load instantly when I open the folder.

To put it another way... every column heading you have enabled... slows things down.
I just choose to disable "type" cause it's redundant, with "Hide file extensions", turned off.
I can see the "type" in the file name.

Are there any updates to this? I tried "files", an open source alternative which is way faster and sorting folders but unfortunately it crashes and still has a lot of bugs. So I either have to have default file explorer not update folders when I move/delete stuff in them and take 5 minutes to load, or files that instantly loads everything but crashes randomly sometimes.
