My question is, does everyone have to address the exclamation mark next to 'other devices' in device manager that relates to the Intel chipset?
I followed the directions I found on the web and was extremely lucky to have fixed it. I read the chipset can destroy the pc if worked on it improperly.

My point is that it is in my opinion something non techs like me should not have to do.

So does everyone with Intel have to do this fix?

If Windows Update doesn't find the appropriate driver automatically (also check the Optional Updates in the Advanced section), then you can use a third party tool to search and install the missing driver for you. I use Snappy Driver Installer. There are two versions you can download. The Lite version contains only the main application without any driver database. You can run it and search for drivers only for your own computer. The other is the full version which contains the complete database (over 20GB) so you can also use it for other computers. I would only install missing drivers (green text). I would avoid updating working drivers (blue text).

I used to say that a PC is not a refrigerator, but that was before refrigerators became WiFi devices. ;-)

The latest Intel chipset drivers from Asus are at TUF Z390-PLUS GAMING|Motherboards|ASUS Global

I believe that the plain "chipset" drivers are the ones you need. They are listed under Windows 10, but they should be fine under 11.

I have never known a lack of chipset drivers to destroy a motherboard.

In the past, I would have suggested going directly to Intel, but I find that motherboard manufacturers may have more accessible drivers now.

I'm surprised that you didn't mention the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. I don't keep it around, because it always loads at startup (and there's no simple way disable that), but it could be helpful.

Trying to find a direct download of drivers from Intel can be, er, trying. It appears to be by design. (Apparently Intel wishes to have all support for motherboards that use their chipsets done by the manufacturers.)

When I first installed my new board (System One) I went to my board's support site and downloaded the chipset, lan and wifi drivers.
Extracted them and attempted Setup, but none of them would run. Setup, AsusSetup, Run as Administrator, nothing worked. Checked properties and none of them were blocked. Re-downloaded them with the same result. Luckily for me I have an optical drive and was able to use the support disc that came with the board.

Found out about Intel Driver & Support Assistant (from this site) and it only found newer lan and wifi drivers.

I just looked at Optional updates and there are a lot to choose from. Could you please take look and let me know what to do. Should I leave them alone or check any? When I installed the driver I told you about, disc management and all seem to be fine. Thank you all for your advice.
I just learned something new about optional updates. I hope the link is ok.
My board is Asus Z390 Tuf Plus Gaming WIFI.

If there is a minor update to the chipset drivers you are not usually offered it just in case you break anything. So if Windows find most chipset drivers you are not offered a new chipset version from Intel's Assistant. You have to download driver updates from Windows Update. If this is not available (rarely), you can use Snappy Driver Installer or similar to find the missing drivers for you. The best would be to download latest chipset drivers from Intel, but as mentioned earlier this is rather tricky.

Just to be sure, download all Intel drivers even though I downloaded the chipset this am?
Install the chipset drivers first and check Device Manager. If there is no device without drivers you can ignore optional updates.

Once I have all my drivers installed I usually am not offered new driver updates, except for the graphics which I always ignore and manually download latest one from nVidia (see my 2nd system specs).

I have NVidia Experience. I understand where you go to the site and manually download if you wish.
Do you think Experience is a bad idea? I thought we were supposed to keep our video updates current and without Experience we would not know.

Actually, Geforce Experience lets me know when a new driver is available.

I never use Windows Updates to install drivers for my hardware. I always go to the company's website and download them from there. Those will have the latest updates that are available. MS is usually behind on updates.

Geforce Experience automatically installs latest drivers, but I go directly at nVidia's site when I read in this forum there is a new version. I don't rely on automatic utilities. I too prefer to manually download latest drivers from manufacturers since I want to have full control over what is installed in my system. I always select the custom installation to make sure all components are installed, not only a typical set.
