StartAllBack

I had it on the latest Build, for a few hours, (after I finally got that stupid Intelligence Update to install), but, there was too many glitches in the Build itself, not to mention the ever evolving Explorer and QTTabBar, etc. I think SAB was okay on it's own though, aside from the move Taskbar to top thing.
On my Canary Builds It does work with the pinned icons. the problem is with all of the icons on the right hand side. My mini PC isn't running any Insider Builds and StartAllBack works great. All I want is the ability to move the Taskbar to where I want. Apparently MS has their head shoved to far up their new Emojies and Desktop Sticker to give us that option.

I installed it..., mind you, I'm still on Build 25915, but, everything is functioning properly.
I'm on Beta 22631.2262, I now have the StartAllBack .4709 and it seems to be working fine!

I have a reasonable suspicion the native W11 Explorer is made up of multiple shells or maybe even SDK's...,
... when that Floating Taskbar comes into play, SAB might not work at all!!! 🤷‍♂️

Has anybody worked out how to backup StartAllBack settings?
I cannot find anything about its settings in the Registry.
- None of the Registry entries that mention StartAllBack look as though they contain its settings
- Nothing in its Program files folder looks like it contains its settings
- Nothing in its AppData folder looks like it contains its settings. There is a .dat file but it is not dated from today [when I last changed something]. I could not read any meaningful .dat file contents [in Notepad++].
A couple of people have asked about backing up in the StartAllBack forum but there have been no replies.

When I still used StartAllBack (SAB) I made screenshots of all sections of the SAB settings and converted those screenshots jpg's to one pdf file where the date and time of the 'backup' was marked. As there are not that much settings that's a rather comfortable method.

I did try to figure out what registry enties were used, but failed to find a reliable way to do that.

I do that (take screenshots and convert them to one pdf-file) for more programs I use, if they have no possibility to save the settings to a file rightaway.

As SAB was giving me too many troubles (as did Explorer Patcher) I decided to use another program to change my taskbar. See my profile 'My Computer'.

Also, there are any number of reasons for one of us to be running Windows 10 at the moment.
True, I have a Windows 10 machine because the BIOS is broken and can hardly boot off anything, I only managed to get a DVD player to connect to it, and my Win 11 installers are on USB.

I also have a Windows 7 machine because the CPU is too old to run Windows 8+! SSE missing or something.

But neither of those machines are particularly important from an interface point of view, they just sit running science projects. Occasionally I get annoyed with one and put startallback or openshell on it. I think startallback failed to install in Windows 10 at all.

I once tried to install StartAllBack on Windows 10, but the program refused tot function on that system and reported I should use StartIsBack.

Although internally (for example in the registry) StartAllBack on Windows 11 is called... StartIsBack.

But anyway, you would need a separate licence to use StartIsBack on Windows 10.

StartAllBack works well for me on Windows 11 and StartIsBack has been working well for me for years on Windows 10.

Maybe completely remove the program and start again.
Use StartAllBack for Windows 11 and StartIsBack for Windows 10.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful.

Never heard of startisback, it never mentioned it to me. I put on openshell (the thing startallback is based on), although it's rather ugly.

License? Startallback is free. Registering seems to be entirely optional. I certainly wouldn't buy 10 licenses for 10 computers!

I installed it yesterday afternoon and my free trial period expires in 90 days.
SAB trial period.png

The main SAB webpage is a mess and so is the Buy button. They both take you to the payment arrangement for StartIsBack [the Windows 10 version of SAB] which apparently needs an additional payment to activate SAB [according to the main SAB webpage].
Or perhaps they have all been left to-be-completed when sanctions against Russia are withdrawn after their eventual defeat in Ukraine.

Please would somebody who has had SAB for more than 90 days comment on this subject.

All I have found is on a StartIsback FAQ page and it is not reliable - its claim about the trial period being 30 days is incorrect.

No. When the 90 days runs out it keeps going.

I get a :( on the start menu, and the above opens every time I reboot (for me about every fortnight).
I don't see what Russia has to do with it, is Startallback Russian? And I don't see any signs of defeat (if you ignore BBC propaganda).

You asked for info on startallback, I gave it to you. Be an ungrateful sshit if you like.
However if you read the news from RT.com (feebly blocked by western governments) you can see both sides of the story.

I miss using StartAllBack to move the Taskbar to the top. I'm running the Canary builds on my desktops and because of the changes MS made to the Taskbar, StartAllBack won't work correctly with it. I'm still hoping that the programmer can make a version that will work with Windows 12 (Canary builds) sometime in the near future.

Yesterday, I made a boo-boo, not even sure what the heck I did, but, I ended up doing a factory reset, (boy, it's nice to have a fresh start), anyway...,
not nearly as many tweaks now, and SAB along side of QTTabBar is running perfectly smooth on 25915! And fast too!!! It's great having a clean slate!!!
