StartAllBack

Why Why Why creator of StartAllBack do not talk with Stardock company ? A lot people want StartAllBack and WindowBlinds 11 to work together.

Because by doing that , it would cut into sales of Start10 and Start11 and Stardock would never stand for that.

But Stardock wants to talk about compatibility and fix this. Only creator of StartAllBack shows the middle finger.

Open shell + WB10 / 11 = works.
Explorerpatcher + WB10 / 11 = works
Start11 + WB10 / 11 = works
StartIsBack / StartAllBack + WB10 / 11 - does not work.

StartIsBack / StartAllBack was never built or meant to be used in conjunction with Window Blinds, In the custom theme world Stardock Window Blinds is actually looked down upon. A true themer can create themes without the use or the very minimal use of third party software, thus reducing or doing away for the need to run third party software just to install or run a theme ... there is absolutely no need for it, it serves no other purpose other that to make themes made for Window Blinds proprietary.
Once I learned how to create my own themes years ago , I dumped Window Blinds and have never looked back and my system runs all the better for it, my system uses zero system resources to run custom themes. Besides , Window blinds does not theme half the areas of the Windows OS that custom themers can.

StartIsBack was created for custom themers back when Windows 8 and 8.1 came out , it brought back a start menu to a system that had none and it took off from there. It has been kept up and updated for those in the custom theme community to create start menus to match their themes , it was never intended to go commercial and I am sure it never will. I am absolutely sure that the creator Tihly will eventually find a way to make StartIsBack/StartAllBack compatible with Window Blinds eventually, without the help of Stardock. Like I said , in the custom theme community Stardock Windows Blinds is considered nothing more than bloatware and looked down upon, hence the creator giving Stardock the finger.

The only reason Stardock wants to talk compatability with Tihly is because I am sure they would love to take a look at his source code, code they would love nothing more than to incorporate into Start 10 and 11 because there are things in StartIsBack and StartAllBack that Start10 and 11 cannot touch.
Stardock tried to corner the market on custom themes , this is why their themes are .wba files , everyone else in the theme world uses .msstyle files which is the Windows default. No one has figured out how to convert their .wba file to a .msstyle file for use without Window Blinds, this was done on purpose , it makes their software proprietary and one must use it to run any Window Blind themes , so yeah , compatibility is a two way street.

Visit some custom theme sites like Megathemer or Virtual Customs, download some themes that by the way are free, learn how to install them yourself and I promise, you will never use any Stardock product ever again. The themes are much better designed , crisper and are not cookie cutter designs like most Window Blind themes , and you will actually see what you are installing ........ common sense dictates that if you can't open a .wba file and see what is inside , why would you want to install it?

1. Since all alternative programs for modifying start menu and taskbar are compatible with WindowBlinds, it means that the developer of StartAllBack is to blame for compatibility problems.

2. WindowBlinds works properly in games and programs, no drops fps, lags or other performance problems.

3. Show me custom theme from Aero Glass/Aero Basic from Windows 8, 7, Vista, Xp or 2000/98 for Windows 10/11 ? no ? but WB has this themes from earlier systems.

So I will ask the same question as you. Who would want StartAllBack which is incompatible with other programs and in addition made by russian kacap.
-Why are you blaming the developers for something that isn't compatible? Why don't you develop your own taskbar and start menu modifications from scratch?

- StartAllBack also works properly in my games and programs too, with no performance problems either, while appearing even better in looks (I'll explain this next)

- Funny thing is, I looked into the WinCustomize, and literally all the themes look like they belong to the Vista and XP era of Windows, that's how outdated they look in current times. They don't even look like Windows 7 themes. Might as well downgrade to Vista or XP if I wanted my theme to look like those. (The window's borders, icon pack, outdated file explorer appearance)

-Okay, now you're being officially semi-racist because it's a russian developer that made it.

Lastly, I want to point out that StartAllBack is $5.
If you want to include the theming aspect, I get my themes and icons from Niivu, install them with UX, and I have like 7 premium themes for Windows 11, and it's all free.

While, Stardock's Start11 and WindowsBlinds is $20 together, and not only that, half of the themes are paid on WinCustomize, around $5-$10 each. And like I said earlier, they look tacky to me, but might look nice to you, but this is my opinion.
I don't mind Start11 all too much, but definitely not Blinds for me.

So, $5 with 7 themes vs possible $50 with some paid themes, and even with free themes for Blinds, $5 vs $20.... what's your choice then?

Darn, mine got broken with 3.5.2 after installing the 22H2 patch. Updating to 3.5.3 didn't fix it. Tried also removing it completely, to the point where I need the activation key when I installed the 3.5.3 again, but no luck.

Disabling it and logging out or disabling the Taskbar mod and restarting the Explorer fixes it, but it's really annoying that I have to choose whether you'll have No Task Grouping feature OR no Alt+Tab, no Task View, and no Volume HUD. 🤯

Minor update...

After moving the taskbar to the bottom (I usually have it at the top) I too am able to see the Task View previews and delete desktops, but the Task View still cannot be launched either by Win+Alt or by clicking the Task View icon in the taskbar.

@fz789 @Edwin is your Task View working fully? What about your Taskbar position, where is it?

Yes with today's Dev Insider 25231.1000 and SAB 3.5.3, task view still working perfectly. I leave my taskbar at the bottom.

I'm on beta builds (22623.870), so I've found today's .875 build and going to install that now. 🤞

Nah, unfortunately, no changes after with Task View/Alt+Tab/Volume HUD not working even after updating to the W11 beta build 22623.875.
Well, at least I know now what caused it and how to get Task View working if one of the browser windows wanders off to a different desktop.

Turn off the StartAllBack Taskbar integration and restart the Explorer, use Task View, then you can start the SAB's Taskbar module again. In case someone else comes here having the same issues.

I'm having exactly the same broken task view issue on SAB 3.5.3 windows 11 22h2 insider preview 22623.875. No task view, no alt+tab, and no volume HUD.
I somehow fixed the alt+tab problem by editing regedit:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"AltTabSettings"=dword:00000000
This will bring back the alt+tab switch. However, once you click the task view button on SAB taskbar, alt+tab is broken again.

Its very buggy still , thats why Im using ONE option only ( all the other options are turned off ); accent-color in explorer .
This option gives me a nice light-blue color on the selected ( by mouse) items in the contextmenus !
I love it...........

Out of curiosity, which option do you use when installing...for everyone or current user only? Any drawback to using "for everyone."
