New user of Windows 11. New pc came with Windows 11S and switched it to Windows 11 Home. My problem...on old pc Windows 10 under Recording/Input when stereo mix was enabled as default device and my headset mic enabled as default communications device, when I was in chat room playing music i could play music and talk on mic at same time. Windows 11 is not allowing me to talk on mic. Allows me to only play music. Also on Windows 10 old pc under Play/Output I could only select Speakers to be enabled. On Windows 11 must make headset the default. Does Windows 11 not support the use of stereo mix and using mic at same time. I've been told to get a new headset. I've tried 3 already and none are allowing me to play music and talk on mic at same time. The one headset is a gaming headset for use on an xbox. Help, my brain is about fried here. Oh and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers too. Ya I know enough to be dangerous! LOL Thanks for any help ya can give me. I hope I have explained my problem so you can understand it.

It seems to be working for me without stereo mix enabled on a Bluetooth headphones. On the recording tab Headset is set to default and on the playback tab the headset is disabled and speakers set to default. I was testing the mic on the recording image and playing music via the speakers.

Ty for your input. The reason I use stereo mix is to provide better quality music into the chat room. I use a headset with attached mic. When I go to sound>stereo mix and run the test, when I play music it shows it's working, however if I stop playing the music and speak into mic it doesn't hear my voice like it did when I used Windows 10 on my old pc. If I play thru speakers it is poorer quality for those in chat room hearing it.

It works with stereo mix on as well. Stopping the music playing still shows the headset mic working. So I don't know if it's an issue with connected headsets rather than Bluetooth ones.

@Deb, are you using AMD HD Audio and Realtek HD audio? Their drivers might be conflicting each other. For example, whenever I install the latest Nvidia Video Driver, it includes Nvidia HD Audio. I always uncheck the option because The Nvidia driver will conflict with my Creative driver. I can use one or the other, but not both. Just a thought...

Scott, thank you for your reply. AMD was enabled so I disabled it at Device Manager, rebooted pc, tried using mic again and it's still not working when I have stereo mix set as default and headset mic set to default communications device as I did using Windows 10. Mic does work when I run test for it only. Under playback I have headset to default and speaker set to default communications device. Scratching my head. Ugh
