These just showed up on my email account. In the Junk folder.winaz.webp

I don't know what this is -- Azure is a cloud thing I think. I don't have an Azure account.

Prolly fake. 805 area code is San Luis Obispo, California. MS would use a proper toll-free phone number.

Here's my Outlook spam:

From what I understand it's a scam. I just report them as spam to my ISP, but they still show up.

They're scam and phishing e-mails. I'm getting them at my Outlook address for a week now. They go straight to junk.

You'd need to look at the headers to know for sure. It does look legitimate but it's unclear of what the objective is if any.

There are attack techniques that leverage legitimate services or crafting URLs from cloud service providers that can create a foot hold in your environment if you have one (Azure in this case), but links such as these are not part of any attack chain I'm aware of. It's possible they somehow adding your email by mistake, but that is unlikely.

I went back and looked at them again, and you may be right. As far as I can tell from the headers they're legit. I have no idea why I'm getting them though, as I've never even looked at Azure, and not really sure what it is!

I found this on one of MS's forums:
"I searched the number in the email I was advised to call 812.484.9724. It is a T mobile cell phone in Indiana. Can’t remember exactly where now. So this is definitely a scam but very scary that the Microsoft address is legit. I did report to Microsoft."
Lots of queries concerning this all over. I just delete them now.

Wondering about your post. You say they're legit. Everyone else says they are a scam. Sure hope they are NOT legit.

I only meant that the e-mail address seems legit. It goes to the Azure website. Anything more than that I don't know.

Let's follow the same advice your bank now provides you. Don't always trust an alert sent to you by e-mail or SMS.

If this was a legitimate problem, your bank would advise you to log into their well-known URL and check for new messages. Furthermore, your bank would say only contact them via what phone number is listed on their own website and not what an e-mail claims to be their support number.

- Don't click on a logon link, it might be an attempt to trick you into typing a real password.
- Don't look at email headers or purported links, because they can be copied or linked from real sources.

Microsoft online services require a registered account. Once you sign up for an account, you can designate who can make changes to the services (which are billable). Other accounts or companies can't just randomly add charges to your bill. It doesn't work that way.

If you picked a service plan using the web portal, then MS just charges you directly without asking you to call them. The only time MS will nag you is because your credit card is no longer valid, and they'll just warn you that your services will be temporarily suspended until it's resolved.

Like all large companies, MS would prefer to save money on customer support costs. So the first thing they want to fix a billing problem is for you to log online, and not call some random phone number.
