Subscription software - the big problem with it that nobody is talking about

What gripes me is many subscription based softwares only function with an internet connection. I live in an area with very spotty cell and limited internet, and when that goes out, so does my business. So unfortunately I had to figure out a way to make things work.

Yes, it will certainly get expensive if too many developers switch to a subscription model.

I have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, which I think is good value. You can share it with 5 other family members. That's 6 shares of Office and 6 TB of cloud storage (1 TB per person).

I also have Directory Opus, which recently switched to a subscription model.

But I don't wish to be paying an annual subscription for too many other applications that I use.
