SWSetup folder - safe to delete?

In my C drive there is a huge folder called SWSetup. It contains more than 30 GB. Some of its contents are several years old. Is it safe to delete the contents of this folder? It would help me to save a lot of space.

It is safe to delete it.Back it up to a USB stick to give you peace of mind, if possible.

C:\SWSetup is a temporary folder created by HP, when you use their PC setup tools. If it's several years old, you don't need it. And the drivers would probably be out of date if your laptop still gets new driver updates.

If you have HP, all your Softpaqs get stored there. Usually drivers and related software produced for your HP model.

Like others have noted: it's where HP keeps the cabinet files it uses to update it's drivers, apps and bloatware. It's generally safe to delete but if you're fond of uninstalling any of them and then later reinstalling I suppose it could save time downloading them again if the HP installer/updater finds it right in that folder.

But HP sure doesn't make it easy to do housekeeping in it. Keeping things that are years out of date and long superseded seems pointless but it's really hard to know which are the 'latest' of something you'd want to keep. If you have un-metered internet and a nice fat pipe it's pointless to worry though.
