I was setting up my Microsoft mobile wireless Mice 4000 and 6000, there was an option for task view and filtered task view, what is the difference between the two?

I think that may be the view of the mouse settings I had a similar one once but different make. Try it and see :)

From my understanding the filtered view allows you to have a filter on the list of running tasks when you open task view. (say you had a bunch of excel windows open, you could set it to only show the excel windows in the task view) This is taken from context from a superuser thread reply.

Yes you were right. filtered task view only provide displays for all open windows of current app, but practially it usually acts as task view if you don't have multiple instances of a said app e.g chrome. It will not switch between different tabs.

which other brands offer this? I specifically bought this mouse for these features. I could love to have a 7-button wireless mouse with good battery life.

I can't remember now, it may even have been as far back as win7 days. I remember it was not very good, very hard to set up and kept loosing it's settings so I gave up after all it's only a mouse

At least Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard centre is reliable. Haven't experienced any difficulty as of yet.
