Taskbar and programs have turned black and won't give it up

Win 11 Pro 25H2, latest OS build. Started up for the second time today -- first time as usual -- and the taskbar and most all programs have all of a sudden turned black background, except for the central part of the screen in browsers. I went into Settings...>Color and changed them to light, but they won't hold, during the session or after reboot. What might be going on? The taskbar color is one of those things I don't pay close attention unless it changes, but I thought it had a transparent tone before this (transparency is on).

its changing from light to dark or vice-versa? do you have powertoys installed?

Starting dark and reverting to it after changing settings to light. Yes, PowerToys is installed. Could that be the culprit? Patch My PC tried to update it to 0.96, but failed. It was still 0.95.

Yeah. They added a Light Switch feature. Check that.

Light Switch was on by default, but turning it off didn't change anything, even after a reboot. I changed Settings..>Color to light and it seems to be holding this time. However, I don't think the standard light colored taskbar is what I started with this morning. I also use Explorer Patcher (Win 10), but don't see a color setting in it.

That's a lot of work. I'll go with TranslucentTB instead.
