OS
WIN 11
For a couple of months, I've been using Teamviewer for remote access, since my Laptop is Win 11 with no Remote desktop. All of a sudden Teamveiwer wants me to upgrade for commercial use, even though this is just a 1 person home setting. Any way around this?

It's confusing, which one will I need simply to access my laptop a few feet away? I'm using it like remote desktop. I may have downloaded a trial version. Which one?

@antspants

This commercial use thing has been happening for awhile, see my post here on it.

Teamviewer has been incorrectly flagging people for awhile now for commercial use even when they have not done so. Use something else completely free instead like google chrome remote desktop. (Btw, you dont have to have chrome installed to use it.)

Microsoft Quick Assist is built into Windows. Type it into the search bar in Windows and open it. This link will explain it.

or take Andrews good suggestion. Especially with what he has said about Teamviewer.

All good. Not with Quick Assist.

You can with Anyviewer. Free for individual use.

Hey Andrew have you pretty much given up on Teamviewer for daily use? So really don't have a free version anymore?

Hey Andrew have you pretty much given up on Teamviewer for daily use? So really don't have a free version anymore?
I loved teamviewer but yes I have given up on them. They offer a free version but if you google search multiple people have been flagged for no reason like I was. When your flagged for commercial use you only get 5 minutes or less. You can read my detailed post here for more info.

Pardon me for butting in, can you exchange files with Quick Assist or Google chrome?
You can with chrome remote desktop, but they are limited to I believe 500MB. Teamviewer free lets you use any file without size limitation I believe. However, this doesn't matter essentially as you can easily upload the file to dropbox, google drive, onedrive etc and then just copy and paste the link to their machine to access it.

Anydesk is nearly identical to teamviewer and is free. Just stick to v7 as v8 started using 90sec ads prior to connecting for the free version.

I have not used it before, Garry. I use Quick Assist but will be buying Anyview in the near future because I seem to be connecting to people more and more.

But check “Way 2” here, Garry. I am sure if that is what you need.
The images on this Anyview site don’t want to load for me. Perhaps there is a problem with their image servr?

i keep my software repository on-hand. i've had to reinstall it on a few pcs as i forgot to disable auto-updates and they migrated to v8. too bad anydesk messed with the free version. v8 is nice because it has dark mode... but v7 is free and no ads lol. i'll keep the light mode in that trade-off.
this DL link is straight from me to here via filemail. its clean.
