I said that about Windows 10 after Windows 8/8.1, but really Windows 10 is much better.

Yet another Windows 11 hate thread!
This disease is spreading faster than the Coronavirus!

Anybody come up with a vaccination for Windows 11!?!?!?
Sorry @Edwin , sorry if I soured things for you. I actually only disappointed with the GUI - it is too "Android" for me. But I don't hate it. So Good.

Thanks @BunnyJ @Hazel123 and @jaree1961 I couldn't keep up with the volume of replies, but I respect your comments.

Time will tell before we know what their plans are.. I would love to see a business and home version of Windows but I know that's never going to happen.

Exactly. Something is missing - and the apps on the start screen look so flat. It reminds me a bit of Elementary Linux - which was maclike and looked rather beautiful but didn't have many functions. It needs to be used, not just looked at. I do like the colour changes when themes are installed. The look can be ok. But that start menu - ugh.

I would also rather use Windows than Apple any day - but Windows 11 doesn't quite feel like Windows (more like Apple). So yes I'm hoping for a Windows 12 before 2025!

In a way I'm onboard with you. I would love to have a fully customizable OS.. but I do know that's not what MS or anyone will give us. They all have a 'vision' of what it should be and no one will change that.

But I like what you do have to say.. thanks for sharing.
OH.. BTW.. you know what faffs me off? When I go to get Erin headphones and I have to buy the adapter so she can use it with say a phone. God.. why not put that in with the product?

Exactly. That was when MS really knew how to make operating systems. Which wasn't that long ago.

I think you can really 'blame' the younger employees for some of these new changes. That's where the 'vision' things come from. They would rather dream of junk rather than coding an OS that's flexible

Back to Windows 10. I want the taskbar on top without having to do a registry hack. I want folders on the taskbar without having to use 3rd party software. I want a fully transparent taskbar without using 3rd party software. I want a right-click menu that I don't have to click again on more options to see functionality that used to be there.

I thought I'd live with 11 for a few days and get used to it but, uh. uh. It's not happening for me.
Since I teach Windows at our local Senior Center, I will eventually have to teach 11, so I bit the bullet and did the registry hack. Took me awhile to get the taskbar on top, but it's working out pretty well. Instead of using Quick Launch, I just pin my most used apps to the taskbar and I'm happy.

There are some things with Windows 11 that come naturally to me, some things I cannot find for the life of me, and there are some things I absolutely hate about it.

For now, I'm dual booting Windows 10 & 11 so I'll be prepared when my students upgrade.

I think it's time to try to customize that silly square menu to see what I can do with it.

Lol! Good luck with customising the silly square menu. It stays the same size whatever you do. Although pinning all the apps to it at least saves having to hit "back" to find the app list.

I was referring to "pinning the apps I use" rather than changing the size and shape (already tried that)

The vast majority of people that said they hated Windows 7 instead of XP eventually moved to 7. The vast majority of people that said they hated Windows 10 (i'm not counting 8 because it was fairly short lived) eventually left 7 and moved to 10, now they say they love it. The same will be true of 11... sure, there will be some stubborn people that refuse to move, but they will be a small minority.

I thought I'd live with 11 for a few days and get used to it but, uh. uh. It's not happening for me.
I made it about 2 hours before bailing in disgust. Was not even finished with the "after install" setup/tweaks.

Most people will probably stay on Windows 10 (and wait for Windows 12).

Windows 11 is kind of like Windows 8/8.1 (and Windows Vista),
it just feels unfinished.

Only thing i wanted from Windows 11 was the "Android apps on Windows 11" feature,
but that's not even included for whatever reason.

I was gonna buy a whole new computer, for that functionality alone.

I did the same when Windows 10 came out (i was running Windows 7 at the time).

The only thing Windows 10 had that i really wanted, was "DirectX 12"
(and i built a whole new computer, just for that feature).

But unlike Windows 11, Windows 10 felt like a *finished* product when it came out.

Yes yes, exactly. And it will always be so.
It's just a question of when the hacks will be perfect and Windows 11 will be a solid system.
For example, I improved it like this and I don't see a mistake:

This is installed on this old PC and steps as a watch:

Mainboard G41M-P26 (MS-7592)
NVIDIA GeForce 210
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
DDR3 2048 MB
