Solved Thunderbird 128 - viewing and changing password- new security?

Hi, It used to be relatively easy to access saved passwords for my email accounts held on Thunderbird.

But now there's this:


and I have no idea what's required there.

It is not, for example, the email address and password of the account selected.

I have posted a question in the Mozilla community and attempted a search.

The above is so vague it's absurd. Ideas welcome. Thanks.

Approaching this from a different direction and finding a more explicitly worded prompt which let me remove this requirement, it seems it's likely it's looking for the PC login credentials.

Anyway, I now have access to my Tbird passwords.

Latest Thunderbird is v152.0 but you are on v128? Is that the ESR version? If it's the Release version then you should update it.

It normally does update, thanks, but it seems the problem arose after an update, so updates aren't always helpful.

What happens when selecting Settings >> Privacy & Security >> Passwords then Saved Passwords..? I think access has been like that for a long time.

How it came to be set is a mystery. When I noticed that and tried clearing it I got a clearer prompt about what was required (in order to clear that setting in this case)

I don't see that issue, no prompt like that for me. I'm running the current version of TB.
