To anyone with keyboard Audio Controls

Windows Pro 11 23H2 Build 22631.3737
1. Open a video file on YouTube or on your device
2. Open an explorer window and select any file/folder in it. Keep the explorer window active.
3. The Pause/Play/Stop/Back/Forward keys on my keyboard does not work anymore for the video
4. Deselecting the file/folder (by clicking in an empty space in the explorer window) solves this issue makes the keyboard audio controls work again.

Didn't have this issue with Windows 10.

Anyone else noticing this? Is this another feature from MS?

Sort of, but not exactly as you describe.
First of all:
• I have a 6 second delay before sound is produced, from any device, app or browser...,
• I had the keyboard media controls glitch you have but, I ran the troubleshooter and it Fixed something..., now the keyboard media controls govern whatever app/window has mouse focus..., with the exception of MPC-BE, when MPC-BE is open, it persistently takes over the keys control! 🤷‍♂️
• Also, I can no longer find the individual app volume settings in Settings/Sound!

There's more stuff dickered in this Build than originally anticipated! :nope:

Before the troubleshoot, multiple audio devices would not show on the OSD...

So, some things are fixed but, still can't pinpoint the origin of the glitches though!!!

Never expected the Troubleshooter would fix this type of glitch.

Regarding the issue in my OP, what does the media controls govern exactly when you have an explorer window as active with a file/folder selected? It does nothing for me and it also doesn't control a video that I'm running in the background.

You're right. Yet, the mute button does work.

This may be happening because the Play/Pause/Previous/Next etc. are transport controls, not only for audio/video but also for slideshows and PP presentations etc.

What do Explorers controls do?

Are you keeping the explorer window active with a file/folder selected in it before using the keyboard audio controls?

Do you have dedicated separate keys for audio/video control on the keyboard? Or are they linked to already existing keys which you activate by holding the "Fn" key?

What I mean is that Explorer works normally.

My media controls work fine when doing the test, and I followed your instructions exactly. I have a Logitech G815 keyboard if that is any help.

the only player that overrides the anomaly is MPC-BE

The keyboard has dedicated keys. They are on the very top. I use the mail and calculator keys the most. I don't know why, but for some reason I keep forgetting about the volume keys and keep clicking on the speaker icon and using the slider control
