Like many, I was curios why Microsoft is requiring TPM 2.0 for Windows 11. I could see it for Enterprise and professional too.

What percentage of people who buy a 300 dollar PC and use it occasionally will even care about TPM?

I wonder if the requirement might change by release.

I am pretty sure the TPM and logon with MS Account parts will not change --- MS has plans for TPM as it is part of the Pluton program

yeah, on newer CPU's you have TPM support, so if you don't have it on your motherboard and your motherboard doesn't have an expansion port to insert a physical chip, with relatively modern CPU's you can turn it on via the BIOS.

I turned mine on,m from a Core i5 from 2015...so 6 years old.

The "MS Account" part is not actually required. I have done in-place upgrades using the Insider Preview on local accounts, and it retains them. And while I do believe you need such an account for a new install, you should be able to go in afterward and change that to a local account.
