Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone had any issues with installing windows updates on a system with 3 drives and 3 OS on one system?
Here is my setup since today;
Windows 11 Pro on a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 1TB 4th gen. (This is my newest drive with fresh install)
Windows 11 Pro on a Samsung 980 M.2 1TB 3rd gen. (This is my drive i bought last year and was original Win 11 Pro)
Windows 10 Pro Samsung SSD 250GB

My plan is once I get all the applications installed and running smooth on the Win11 980 Pro 4th gen.,I will format the 3rd gen M.2 and use for storage. maybe early in new year.

If all three installations are UEFI (manufacturer logo with spinning dots at boot), you can use EasyUEFI to rename them as you like for convenience. For Legacy BIOS (CSM, blue Windows logo with spinning dots at boot) installations use EasyBCD instead.

or just use BCDEDIT. Does not matter if UEFI/Legacy BIOS/GPT/MBR.

I beg to differ (as a gentleman would say), bcdedit involves typing commands in Windows Terminal or Powershell, while EasyUEFI and EasyBCD are GUI utilities controlled by the mouse. Definitely much easier to use.

I installed EasyBCD because I followed instructions to change the names for each one and it came back incorrect. I found EasyBCD to work great.
Of course I will have to be careful when doing updated that require restarts lol

Way back in high school, when we had Apple IIe in the classrooms, I was a computer class tutor for the 6th grade class. I went in early one day and swapped the video cables between two computers so. Girl sits down next to me and starts typing on her keyboard and it is coming up on my screen. So I start typing back, "Hello, Lisa, how are you today?" This went back and forth about 5 or 6 times and she was completely astonished with the new "artificial intelligence" interface! It was pretty dang funny when she finally figured out what was going on. It was a good thing I had taken typing class earlier :-)

Here's the thing with command line tools like diskpart and bcdedit. Once you learn how to use them, you can accomplish most tasks faster with diskpart or bcdedit or bcdboot then it would take someone the time to download and install some third-party GUI tool and the computer doesn't get cluttered up with the tools that will get little use. Anyway, just a preference.

Who is afraid of the Big Bad Board, Big Bad Board... Not me! I am using computers since the 80's and I am rather good and quick in MS DOS. Of course I hate Linux which is totally different than good old MS DOS. 40 years later in 2022 I am used to Windows GUI and wizards and feels weird using the keyboard for tasks that can easily be done with the GUI. Yes, I can understand the logic and do it, but as a last resort if I cannot do it with the GUI. For example to add the Mac OS X boot entry to Windows Boot loader in order to dual boot Windows and Mac OS X (Hackintosh), you cannot do it with EasyBCD because it doesn't configure it correctly. You have to do it in command prompt with Bcdedit. You can then use EasyBCD to rename the boot entry into something more friendly.

So, I have to ask.... if you are using bcdedit to add the boot entry anyway, then why bother with EasyBCD just to rename the boot entry?
bcdedit /set {guid here} description "Mac OS X"

Copy and paste the guid for the boot entry into the space {guid here}.

To me that is a whole lot easier than exiting out of the command prompt and going into EasyBCD to do something that one more bcdedit command will do if you are already using bcdedit to add the boot entry (which should include adding the description field to begin with!)

With EasyBCD you don't have to mess with GUID and command line parameters. I don't know the exact commands, so I need to spend more time figuring out the syntax to accomplish what I want, while with EasyBCD I do that in seconds.
