Troubleshooting WLAN Drivers on ASUS Vivobook with Windows 11

Hello,

I have an ASUS Vivobook with Windows 11, Model: M1603Q. Lately, I've been experiencing random blue screens on this relatively new laptop. Despite three visits to Geek Squad in the past two weeks (I have coverage), the issue persists. Recently, they returned it to me and asked me to complete the Windows 11 installation process myself. Unfortunately, my computer is not detecting any internet connections.

To work around this, I had to use the command prompt to disable the connection requirement, allowing me to proceed with the Windows installation without an internet connection. I have attempted to install every WLAN driver available for my model from ASUS's support site, using a USB drive for the process. (Vivobook 16X OLED (M1603, AMD Ryzen 5000 series)|Laptops For Home|ASUS Global)

However, every time I install the drivers and restart the computer, the Device Manager shows no changes. I am reluctant to return to Geek Squad as their only solution has been to perform system restores, rather than addressing the root cause of the problem.

The initial restore they did worked fine, and I didn't encounter this issue. Do you have any suggestions on how I can resolve this problem?

Hi, naturemadehobbi, did they mention that they had, or were there any signs that they may have opened the laptop?

Sorry, was the network issue a reason you took it to them in the first place? Or only the blue screens?

Did the network issue only show itself after taking it to the Geek Squad?
If you can see what I am eluding to here.

It doesn't look like anyone opened it, and they quite literally made it available for pickup 1 hour after the last drop off. So I believe they just restored it again.

I just opened it and am not noticing anything missing, etc ~

If you can see what I am eluding to here.
Sorry didn't see this. That is not why I took it in. The main issue was the random blue screens. They randomly happen and the laptop monitor stops working upon restarting the computer. This is a sporadic problem and isn't consistently replicated.

That is correct, it was after I took it to them. I definitely understand that this is their fault, but I literally don't think I can go back in their and deal with this rationally anymore. I'm not completely clueless but that's essentially how they treat me when I'm trying to discuss the problem thoroughly with them.

A brand new machine should not be bluescreening. Might want to just return the laptop and get a new one.

Since you tried your manufacture's website, trying the drivers there,

Please go to device manager and under your network adapters, double click the entry, under details and choose hardware Id

What is the hardware ID? Paste that here as well as google, that should help you find the driver.

If it's in there, try uninstalling and checking the box to remove the driver. Then try identifying the hardware id again.

You can also try doing recovery from the bios with asus cloud recovery. This is outside windows so it should be able to use the wifi and ethernet without issue and reinstall windows with all drivers.
