Its a bit of a clumsy way of doing it but it works.
That is true but how many users would know about doing it that way or even know how? Users shouldn't have to go through all that just to setup their new computer. I see no reason why MS can't allow users to choose the username they want. They should also stop putting the User folders on OneDrive. The default setting should be local.

Did you copy and paste just your files or did you try to move the entire user folders? You just want to copy and paste your files and folders inside the user folders. Only delete the old user after you're sure you new user account is all setup and working.
I have no idea. I just know that I won't ever do it again! lol

I'm not even sure if it's advised to do anything differently than logging in with a Microsoft account after installing Windows for the first time.
When I build a new machine, I initially login with my Microsoft account, and then I make a new Local account named "Ferch", make it an administrator, and then logout and login with that account. Then I delete the original "Les Ferch" account (which has a profile path of "lesfe"). I find that gives me the best control over everything and if I want to use something that requires a Microsoft account, such as the Store, it will prompt for it. Also, shortly after logging in with my local account, I uninstall OneDrive, since I use Google Drive for my cloud storage.

YMMV, but that approach always gives me a reliable and responsive system.

Last tip... When you create a local account, it will let you create an account with a space in the name and will create the profile path with the same name. But I wouldn't! Most things will be fine, but at some point you may run into something that doesn't deal with the space in the profile path and you'll wish you never did that.

For system stuff, it's safest to avoid spaces in paths. So why did Microsoft put programs in "Program Files"? Yeah, good question.

If MS would take a break from creating new emojis and fix the problem of not allowing users to choose their user name this wouldn't be necessary.

For me, it's still necessary because I want a local account.
I think the whole idea of MS trying to make a user use an MS Account is ridicules. The only good thing I can think of at the moment is that the user can log out of their MS account and switch to a local account.
