Newer laptops today do not "sleep" (state S3)as we have known it to be in the past. They go into a state called "modern standby". (S0)as the device was stored inside a laptop bag at the time
There have been reports that these devices have overheated when carried in a case. If I owned one of these modern standby devices I would never carry them in a case unless they were turned off. At the very least I would use hibernate instead of modern standby.
Hibernate and Modern Standby are both low-power modes for laptops and tablets, but they differ in how they handle power consumption and responsiveness. Hibernate saves the system state to the hard drive, effectively powering down the device and using minimal power, while Modern Standby keeps the device in a low-power sleep state, allowing for quick resume and connectivity.
