I have three computers on my home network: a tablet with Windows 10, a laptop also with Windows 10, and a desktop with Windows 11. All three have password-protected sharing turned off. With my tablet I can access my laptop and my desktop and with my laptop I can access my tablet and my desktop. But with my desktop, although I can access my tablet, I can’t access my laptop. When I try to, I keep being asked for my network credentials even though password-protected sharing is turned off. Yet my wife, with a standard account on the desktop, can access the laptop without any problem. As a test, I created a local account on the desktop and with this I can access the laptop with no difficulty. Can anyone suggest what the problem is likely to be, please?

I created a local account on the desktop and with this I can access the laptop with no difficulty.
Then IMO there is some sort of corruption in your user account causing the issue. First, from your old account make sure the new local account you created is an administrator. Connect external media, COPY your user files to it, logout of old account and log in to the new user account and PASTE the files into it. (Using this method is very important as it will keep you from having permission problems) . When all is working as expected in the new account, delete your old account. You can then change the new local user account to a MS account if you want.
