Solved Unable to activate Windows 11

Windows 11 Home 25H2 (OS Build: 26200.7849)
I had to reset my pc as I was having issues with it, but when I go to activate it with a valid key I get this error: "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again. or enter a different one. 0xc004f050." I even tried using a default/generic product key and get the same error. Any help or advice is appreciated!

For some reason when I run Winver says Windows Enterprise and I'm not a business environment and want to use Windows 11 Pro

l got it to change and activate my Windows 11 Pro Key. It said the Enterprise key wasn't activated so I used the troubleshooter and it activated then I changed the key to the Pro key and it activated.

No idea how you went from Home to Enterprise?
How did you reset the key
And I am still interested to know where you got the key from.

I used the troubleshooter to active the Enterprise key as it says it wasn't activated, they changed the key to my pro key. I bought my pro key from BestBuy.

What I have seen before was this bug, which appears to by now be an old bug:
When upgrading the edition from Home to Pro on an existing installation, you receive an "access is denied" error, but if you reboot, it will then confirm being activated with Pro. I had that issue back in 2021, after getting a Pro key from Staples.

The error appears, and when it does, just reboot and check the status again.

One of my computers went that route when I upgraded from Home to Pro through the MS store. When I contacted MS I was told to use the Win 11 Pro generic key and my computer went from Win 11 Enterprise to Win 11 Pro.

So it’s likely the key that was purchased, a volume licence key perhaps?

That should have worked OK if it was from the store.

But in any case, I've seen some weird happenings with just using the key to upgrade (i,e, no other installation(s)) ... > failed, stayed at Home, > Enterprise, > success from the start.

So much so that I no longer bother to check until after a reboot, whether prompted or not. Ultimately, always successful.
