Understanding Onedrive File Storage

Could someone please explain something to me?

I have quit Onedrive for some time now, as I don't need a 'Backup' I do my own regular Image backup to an External HDD. But I notice that when you expand the Onedrive file (see attached photo) you seem to see that you have a duplicate of everything you have in your computer's 'Documents' and 'Pictures folders'. Is Onedrive storing a complete second copy of Documents and Pictures etc. using up double the space on your computer's hard drive?

Disable OneDrive from syncing Enable or Disable OneDrive Integration
You can then Uninstall OneDrive from Installed Apps.

i trick this free onedrive with this one

i install and set 1drv to c:\onedrive\ and choose nothing to backup

then i move path mydocument inside onedrive ... and my picture inside onedrive
in that case it will work as "cloud storage" not backup app...

today. before i post this, i search on youtube. and find ask leo tutorial about 1drv .. why it make copies or how to use 1drv in right way.

and i forgot at w11 we have tutorial about link the folder outside c:\onedrive or not. but you can find it on tenforum
