Undetected Network - Connected

I was just poking around the systray icons in the task bar of my new computer. Clicking on the connections icon shows Undetected Network connected. The troubleshooter says Good News - You're Connected. I've been using the internet since day one. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I just checked again. Now it says Unidentified Network - Internet Access. What does it all mean?

Sorry, I typed Undetected instead of Unidentified.

please check
control panel > network and sharing centre

and see the list of connections there
you are also able to disable any connection there as well.

It shows my network name, under which it says Private Network, and it shows Unidentified Network under which it says Public Network. What now?

which network are you using private or public
settings > network & internet
check both ethernet and WiFi settings

also are you using WiFi or cable
as the system may have set up a connection for each one

you can change both networks to 'public'
or disable one network connection and see if you are still connected

then disable the other network and see if you are still connected

I don't see how to change or disable the Unidentified Network.

I'm posting 4 pictures of what I'm seeing.
1. The Systray
2. The Control Panel
3. The Settings showing the Ethernet in unidentified but connected
4. The Settings showing WI-FI is off

My internet works fine. I never would have known about this Unindentified Network issue if I hadn't clicked on the icon to see what it did.

in the network and sharing window
click the blue print 'Ethernet' on the unidentified network

a new window will open
at the bottom of that new window
middle button 'Disable'

Steve - I hate to admit it, but I'm afraid of messing something up if I disable it. Is there any problem if I just let it just run as it is. Like I said, it's working. You know, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

as long as you set this network up then its fine to leave it
if you disable it and it causes problems you can re-enable this network
using the same method as above.

I've had this same issue for the last couple of months. Internet worked so I just left it alone. After reading this thread I tried disabling the unidentified network but that also disabled Network 2, my normal network. So, no internet and ethernet was completely disabled. After re-enabling ethernet both connections appeared. I'm stumped. Like Jeff said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Gramps - Thanks for trying the disable so I didn't have to. I was afraid it would have been one of times I'd wish I had a time machine to take me back 5 minutes
