Solved "Unknown Devices" suddenly showing up - related to Hyper-V?

Just built out a new Win 11 24H2 PRO iso using NTLite - using a very light preset that removes little and basically adds my fav registry keys and a few other minor tweaks

Just installed this one to a 2021 ASUS ProART z490 CREATOR 10G board.

In this first test run - I grabbed all the drivers from the ASUS site and updated the BIOS. Once I ran all the drivers thru - I was left with these
3 oddball devices - which I have never seen before, know nothing about nor do I have any idea how they were detected.

Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual Machine Bus Provider ROOT\VMBUS\0000 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

Microsoft Hyper-V PCI Server ROOT\VPCIVSP\0000 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual Disk Server ROOT\STORVSP\0000 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

I do not have any virtualization turned on within the BIOS of this board nor any VT-D or anything else that could be related to this. Nor do I want any virtualization/hosting capability on this specific box.

Now - I DID choose to include the Hyper-V Management Tools within my NT Lite ISO (to manage other servers and VMs on site) - but would adding something simple like Hyper-V Manager - suddenly kick off the need for these devices? I removed these tools but these oddball "devices" remain.

A bit stumped here on whether this an ISO issue, a hardware device I have turned on by mistake or what.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Not sure if this would help or not but have you tried turning on the virtualisation in UEFI? I don't think it would affect much unless you were actually using software that required it. Other than that I can't think of much else to change it outside of reinstalling the OS.

If you choice update driver, and brows to the folders seen in the printscreen perhaps you can install them?


If there not there, maybe NTLite is stripped down to much and not providing all drivers?

And if you have remove the hyper-v software.
Can you try to delete/remove device and refresh from menu, to see if there re-detected?

Opposite. What if you removed Hyper-V features w/o removing the Hyper-V drivers...

Well - lookee there. Removed the devices - rebooted and nothing was redetected. Seems this was all for not.

Still would like to know exactly what made Win 11 think it needed this stuff at all and then did not even install drivers for them?

Also - my NT Lite image - left all Hyper-V stuff untouched.

I guess the management software relies on some underlying drivers and using some parts of it to communicate to other machines. While not using 98% of the driver functionaly as it was a hyper-v host itself.

Glad you found a solution. I suppose this thread can be marked as solved now.

Just a quick update - built another Win 11 install ISO and the only change made was to remove the Hyper-V "Optional Features".

Installed this to the new machine moments ago and these oddball missing drivers are nowhere to be found. This is clearly an NT Lite issue.

Thanks for reporting back. So i guess they did remove those drivers from the iso.
