You should not have to reinstall an OS multiple times. That IS ridiculous!!!

That said, if you're constantly having issues on the same machine, perhaps it's time to look into the hardware?

Also, and I'm not saying you're doing this, but I'd advise to install Windows the way it was meant and not try to tweak it to death to run and act as another OS. Too many run into issues down the line doing things they've heard or read elsewhere without knowing why, or how to get out from underneath them should issues occur. Here most end up doing what shouldn't need to be done.... constant clean installs.

I am running Windows 11 on my fully supported rig (system spec) and the OS is very stable there.

This would help eliminate one problem until a real solution is found. If it was my computer I would do another clean install then slowly start setting it up. Giving the problem some time to show up. The less changes made before the problem starts will help track down the cause.

As would the image right after installing, so repeated installations need not happen, and time could be spent figuring out what is going on.

But it's the OPs decision. If the OP wants to go back to 10, more power to them. Certainly better than having issues and not being able to fix them in 11.

This post is not about the other problems. It's about an update failing and causing the need to start over. I would rather stop the update so I could work on the other problem then to keep restoring an image every time Windows Update decides to install the failed update. I just gave a suggestion to stop the update. It's up to the OP to decide to stop it or not.

Your reply and a few others had nothing to do with the problem related to this thread. At least I suggested a solution to the topic of this post.

And if he tries any solution, and it does not work and breaks his computer again, then what?

My suggestion was 100% appropriate given the circumstances. If you cannot see that, great. But a solution only is good if it is applicable and it actually works.

So, install, make the backup - then start trying to solve the problem.

If they don't stop the update first and that's what this thread is about, they are going to be in a continuous loop of using the image to do a restore everytime Windows Update install the problem update. I'm done with this subject.

You can think what you want, but to prevent both the update and the need for a reinstall, make the backup first, and then take steps to prevent the install.

Not to mention the backup will be there if something in the future comes up that cause this sort of thing again. The blocking of the update won't.

No way! Stop the update first then make an image. I wasn't going to respond any more but you are wrong and steering the OP in the wrong direction. One has to stop the update before making a image. You are leading the OP into a continuous loop of using their backup images to keep restoring what they shouldn't need to restore. Getting myselef in trouble again, Read the header of this thread. I'm sorry I posted again but I want the OP to know the answer to this thread. Not what is going on with their other problems. I hope I'm now done with this thread and with your replies to me.

I'll say again, given the entirety of the OPs issues (here and elsewhere), if they have to constantly reinstall the OS / restore an image.... it's time to look elsewhere as continuing to end up having to reinstall / restore over and over is simply insanity.

You are telling them that all they need to do is make a system image. If they make the Image before stopping the update which is the subject of this thread, how is that going to help?
