Update fails?

Hi, I use Linux as my daily and my Wife has Win11, she is an avid Microsoft Seekers Notes player and because of her using Win11 I have Win11 Pro on a separate drive on my comp.
The Win11 update KB5053598 refuses to update, it goes through the entire update as far as the Black screen up to 99% and then fails i.e another one percent and it's hunky dory. It then says there was a problem and not to worry, we'll fix it. The problem is that every time I switch over to Win11 ( usually on a Wednesday ) to check for updates it immediately tries to update the rebelling KB5053598 and then goes through the whole cycle again. I have searched the web and have followed the Microsoft tips/help via the CMD and Power Shell alas to no avail. I came across a tip to stop the update and so far it appears to work, I am not holding my breath on it lasting. The CMD and Power Shell both report the comp is in perfect condition and so it should be simply because it only has Win11 on it and other than checking for updates never gets used.
Has anyone any thoughts on this, the only thing I can think of is changing the version, would that be viable?
Any help would be appreciated,

Take a look in this thread and see if you can manage to manually apply that update.

is the issue with KB5053598 happening on your computer or on your wife's computer or on both?

you could just block the update and wait for april's kb. march's cumulative has been giving some people BSODs anyways.

Thank you to all of you who replied. I cannot see where to reply to each individual help/tip so I am answering to one and all in this manner.
I tried the manual update to no avail, so I will follow dacrone's advice and just hang fire for a while. The comp is booting OK at the moment because of the fix and it's very likely it won't get booted till April so I will look then. Again many thanks to all.

Update: I have just this minute checked my Wife's Win11 for that update and hers went perfectly three days ago. She is running Win11 Home whereas I am running Pro!

I doubt the version of windows has anything to do with it. More than likely it is failing on your computer because of some condition specific to your device; a corrupted or missing file, a device, or a problem with WU itself. Maybe I missed it in your post, but I did not see what error it is kicking out.

Information on your hardware might prove to be helpful. The device you listed in your system specs shows to be Linux. If that device has been changed to Windows 11 I have a suspicion it might be related to your WD drive. That be the case, Use the WD dashboard application to check to see if there is a firmware update on that drive. Otherwise, please provide your specifications. (and the update failure error)

Just want to say KB5053598 broke me for a bit. My taskbar and start menu completely disappeared. Can't say exactly what fixed it as I jumped through so many hoops in the process of getting it working again. I did originally also get the BSOD after trying to install it when I unpaused updates. I do suspect using Open-shell may have been at least part of the problem. Anyway everything back to normal including Open-shell working. This is the first time I've had any major issue with 11.
